Title: Oban and Lorn Family History Group
Post by: ardchattan on Wednesday 23 September 09 15:30 BST (UK)
The inaugural meeting of the Lorn Family History Group will take place this Sunday - 27th September 2009.
If you are interested in attending any time in the future please email lornfamilyhistory AT gmail.com for details.

This group is very much aimed at genealogists living in the North Argyll area, wherever their ancestors come from or ended up. As one prospective member suggested "its a chance to get together with  like minded people who won't glaze over when you start droning on". From the enquries so far, its evident that we will cover most of the country, if not many of the continents, from the start, which is wonderful. We also have a surprising depth of experience coming out of the local woodwork as well as welcoming newcomers to the hobby.

We are looking forward to the creation of this new group, and welcoming new members in the months to come.

It is very likely that there will be members who are interested in LOCAL history of our immediate area too - so, give us some time, but AT LAST, there might just be some Oban and North Argyll help in a few years.
There are certainly other projects in the area who are far more advanced, in small parishes, so we are finally getting there, better late than never !!
