Does anyone have any information they could share on the ancestors of Phebe Louttit b South Ronaldsay in 1828 who married Peter Aim after his first wife Margaret Cromarty died.

1841 census for South Ronaldsway Orkney & Shetland - all born there.  The 1841 does not show relationships but she was probably a grand daughter

Thank you for that. I've now discovered that Phoebe was the illegitimate daughter of Margaret so I now need to find which John Loutit was her father? the search goes on.

on 1851 census s ron at midtown: david 53 farmer, margaret sister 57 and phebe niece 23
on 1861 census at ayr: peter 45 farmer 25 acres, phebe 35, peter 11, margaret 9, john 8, barbara 7, robert 5

you probably have this info but have you tried the" south ronaldsay and burray civil death registers"?

Just another wee snippet I found while hunting: st peters cemetery s ronaldsay north parish: sacred to the memory of margaret cromarty wife of peter aim in hoxay who died on the 4th oct 1859 aged 32 yrs and of their infant daughter mary who died june 21st 1856

This site has 1821 census etc & Hugh Wallis' Orkney site is another good site.
