Here i am again, trying to fill in those annoying holes in my family tree.
This time i have a Martin George Satchell Born1858 Rugby and i have him present on all the census' he is alive for so there is no problem there.
In 1878 he married a Harriet Deacon in Leicester, and i am having a few problems finding her on the census before their marriage.
Harriet Deacon was born (According to census only) in 1861, Occupation in 1881 is 'Hosiery' and she was born in Leicester. This information is consistent throughout the later census' - so no confusin there either.
Hope someone can help me find Harriet Deacon on the census with her parents, well mainly on the 1871 as she may not be on the 1861 depending on when she was born.
Thankyou once agian Rootschat Members.

Hello Timmle :)
1871 : RG10. P. 3281 Fol. 125 Pg. 8
The name on both index and image is Deakin; however, in 1861 the name is Deacon ;)
1861 : RG9. P. 2292 Fol. 44 Pg. 2
Shout if you need details ;)
Elizabeth Deacon registered Leicester Q4. 1861 Vol. 7a. Pg. 163
-
Bargillai Deacon birth registered Leicester Q3. 1852 Vol. 7a Pg. 167
He is there in 1861 and 1871 ;D ;D ;D
Never met that name before ??? ::)
-
Thankyou very much for that.
I've also found him in the 1851 Census now -
HO107 / 2088
Folio 285
Page 5
And i found a WIlliam and Elizabeth on the 1841 census yet the children don't seem to match up and th ages seem incorrect, 10 years olf than they should be.
HO 107 / 600 / 15
Folio 27
Page 12
Compared to 1851 it doesn't seem correct. Any advice?
-
Hi Timmle :)
No, I don't think that's him; try this one:
1841 : HO107. P. 604/2 Fol 39 Pg. 27
William and Elizabeth at the bottom of the page, children top of next page :)
This looks as if it might be Grandad: 1841: HO107. P. 604/10 Fol. 11 Pg. 15
There are two deaths on freembd between 1841 and 1852 for someone with that weird name - on is presumably the little boy in 1841 with his parents, the other grandad.
-
How do i search on Ancestry.co.uk under folio and page to find that exact result?
-
Ahh i've found it now, thankyou for the census reference numbers, defintely looks like them, just to continue the Deacon line back through the parishes and also to find Elizabeth's maiden name. :D
Thanks again.

1841 census England, on the search page, where you usually put in names, dates etc, at the bottom there is a line of boxes, all headed up - just fill in the numbers :D
Make sure you get the England one - it wont work on the overall nor any of the other countries :D
Whoops sorry - didn;t see you before I pressed send :-[

I search on this page
http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec/?htx=List&dbid=8978&offerid=0%3a7858%3a0
is that correct?
-
Yep - that comes up as 1841 England census :D
-
That's strange because there isn't any headed fields for volume, folio or page or anything like that.
Not in basic or advanced search.
-
Right well despite that set back of not being able to search by volume etc i found the Barzilla Deacon you were talking about.
WM. DEACON
07 JUN 1813 Fleckney, Leicester, England
Father: BAZILLA DEACON Family
Mother: SARAH
So i'm guessing that Barzilla remarried a Hannah as Sarah seems to be William Deacons mother.

Sorry about the gap - Ancestry wouldn't play with me for a while ::)
When I click now on the link you gave, the search box for the 1841 comes up, and beneath the Birthplace boxes there is a line of boxes called census with the boxes named.
Do you not get that ???
I should think that Barzilla (?) was indeed William's father - you could ask for a parish look-up and see whether anyone can solve the Sarah / Hannah question :)
-
Unfortunately don't get those boxes, on the 1841 England page i just get name, date, place of birth, and that is all. Nevermind i managed it in the end.
Well in the 1841 Census, Barzilla is 60 year old and married with a 40 year old wife, and a 15 year old daughter - so it does have all the telltale signs of a second marriage.
Also there are no other William Deacon's baptised in Fleckney so it looks very likely that Barzilla is the father. Just can't seem to find an extracted record for their marriage.
I might start up a new topic for a few parish lookups, thank you very much for your help this evening.
Tim.
