I am "trying" to piece together my own family history.Sadly I havn't visited the North East since my father died in 1972.
My father was Charles Stabler born in Cullercoats/WhitleyBay 1907 to Charles Stabler b1877 (Bishop Aulkand) and Mary Annie Burt b 1882/3 on Rocky Island Seaton Sluice.
I am ,at present, concentrating on my grandmothers family. She was born to parents William Burt & Emily Burt (Holroyd) and had , as far as I can trace, 4 sisters Elizabeth b1884 Emily b1891, Margeret b 1895 and Florence b 1897. i can remember my Aunt Florence (known as Florrie) as a young lad in the 60's. She passed away in 1977.
I would be interested to hear from anyone else who is from this line and is/has also researched the history

Hello,
Not sure this will reach you ten years later, but I'll give it a go regardless... I am also researching the Burt family from Guernsey. My great grandmother was Florence Ada Burt born in Guernsey in 1883. She married William John Abrahams and they had my grandmother Bertha Abrahams in 1902, along with Gertie 1906, and Gladys 1908. I have Florence's father listed as Joseph Burt but I am not sure if that is correct. I'm an American from NY, living in California. My grandmother came to NY from Cornwall when she was 16, in search of her mother - Florence Ada Burt - who had abandoned her 3 daughters in England after her husband gambled all of her money away and left them with nothing. Florence took a ship to New York and married a well-to-do doctor. She was not thrilled to see my grandmother at her door but offered her a position as a servant. That's all I know. I'd love to learn more about the Burt branch.

SilentForce, I wonder if any of the 'Burts' on this death notice link may be of relevance to you.
There is also one named 'Stabler'.
