Title: Greenock Cemetery- completed thank you
Post by: lindaangus on Saturday 12 September 09 15:43 BST (UK)
Well I recently made my first visit to Greenock where my father was born. We got the train from Glasgow where we were staying for a short holiday whilst visiting the Edinburgh Tattoo.
One of the things I wanted to do was to visit my grandmothers grave, and to see the memorial in the section next to where her grave is, where her two daughters may have been mentioned as they were both killed in the 1942 blitz.

We managed to get a taxi to take us to the area where we could see this but the heavens opened
and despite my best efforts I could not search as I was hoping too. Both my papers and I were drenched! What a disappointment.

I have see the photo link mentioned in another posting which is interesting to see the various views of the cemetery.

If anyone is going that way with a digital camera please let me know and I could give you details of where the grave can be found- not sure even if there is a headstone though!

Thanks Elaine for your effort.  I thought that there might not be a headstone.  Isn't it sad to think they must have been unable to afford one.

Regards

Linda

It is sad Linda
but nothing has really changed there is still quite a lot or poverty
about this area  :(
due to the high unemployment and the state of the economy  ::)
