Hi Devonmarie here: here is some information for you.
In Devonish parish in County Fermanagh Ireland
there is a Jane born in 1806 there is also a sister called Elizabeth who was born Aug 4 1800
They are the children of Thomas Thompson and Barbara McCutcheon of Monea. I believe they are cousins to your Jane.  I am excited as you are in finding  this out it is so neat to finally find someone who is looking for the same things cool eh. talk to you later Pat Carson aka Devonmarie

Parish is Devenish (not Devonish).
Just because someone has the same surname doesn't mean they are related. The Jane born in 1806 is most likely years older than Jane who married William Gordon in 1872 so even if they are related somehow they might not be cousins.

You can also find William & Jane on the 1881 UK Census at www.familysearch.org living in Tanfield, Durham with children John, robert, Thomas, James and Jane.......

My Great Grandfather was also a McCutcheon from "somewhere" in Tyrone - William, son of John McCutcheon and Mary McFarland. We have been unable to trace their origins in Tyrone although every document on my Great Grandfather from Canada says he and his parents came from Tyrone. William was born in the 1860's or early 1870's (I have 3 different dates for him that turn up no registration anywhere in Ireland), came to Canada about 1887, supposedly he had a brother Samuel who also came to Canada (1891) but he disappeared and nothing is known about him. A marriage registration for his parents has never been found either.......

Also note on the 1881 Census for Tanfield, Durham a McCutcheon Family - Jane (60) born Ireland, John (28) born Ireland (son)  and grandsons - Robert WIlliam Boyd (23) born Ireland & William Gordon (13) born Cumberland

I would guess that the above Jane is mother to your Jane (McCutcheon) Gordon and that William is the son of William & Jane........

Death registration may also hold clues as to your McCutcheon's origins in Ireland.......

I believe this is probably the birth of Jane (McCutcheon) Gordon's first son William who is living with his Grandmother on the 1881 Census.......

As far as I know English death certificates, like Irish ones, would not list parents, brthdate or place of birth so they probably wouldn't be much help in trying to trace relatives in Ireland.

Do you have some idea who he may have married?? Names of his children??

1911 Census Index - this may be your William George Gordon (McCutcheon) search was done stating birth Cumberland and listed are all those in household of William George in Castle Ward but as you can see there are 2 William George's listed..... Could be married to Elizabeth or Sarah??
