What date did they marry in 1853

This is the only freebmd entry for 1853 and it does not link to a Selina Clayton

Marriages September qtr 1853

HOLLAND  Frederick    Leicester  7a 251

Ashby de la Zouch was the registration district for Coalville

As you have the marriage certificate and as Frederick was 43 when they married - was he shown as a bachelor or a widower

How old was Selina and what was her fathers name

Was she shown as a spinster or as a widow

She was Selina CLAYDON according to the GRO index

The reason we need this info is to try and find them on the 1851 census to establish their respective birthplaces

We cannot find any other info on Frederick until we know where he was born

Have you reason to believe that Frederick & Selina were Gypsies (travellers)

What were the names, birthyears and birthplaces  of any of their children born before 1861 as there is no obvious census entry for this couple

in 1871 census there was a spelling mistake made on thier last name it is under wollam, i have just noticed that on the cert it is selina and on the census it is spelt celenea. thier childrens names are moses born ravenstone 1854/5, susannah 1862, fredrick 1864.

You already have the 1871 census which gives both their birthplaces as Ratby so why didn't you include that info in your post - it would have saved us a great deal of time and effort

SELINA CLAYDON   Christening:  10 OCT 1824   Ratby Leicester,    Father:  BRIGHTON CLAYDON    Mother:  MARIA

Hi GypsyRoseLee

There's a complete family tree for your Selina Clayton/Claydon, dau of Brington Clayton, and her siblings, in a book published in July 2009 by the Romany and Traveller FHS: www.rtfhs.org.uk

The book's called "The Family Trees of Francis and Mary Clayton and John and Mary Booth", by Eric Trudgill.

Best wishes

Sharon
