Hi Queeny
Which area of Lancashire are we looking at ??
-
hi sorry salford

Are they in the 1911 census? If Henrietta is still alive the entry should tell you how many children she had and how many have died.

Queeny
The 1911 Census asks how many children have been born and how many are still living, that should answer part of your question

Possibly not - I have a widower living wih his children in 1911, but because he isnt listed as married theres no total for children listed with him, just the names and ages of those living at home
I also have one with a 'new' step mum who has listed the children as if they were the children form the new marriage, and one who hasnt!
I suppose it would be down to how the individual interpreted the question about the children really tho, he may have filled it in (unlike my one!)

In 1881, the Richardson household includes a two year old Henrietta Hawthorne - who is recorded as daughter to the head of household. I can't find a birth registration of either a Henrietta Hawthorne or a Henrietta Richardson in 1878/9 which seems to fit (she would have been born before the marriage).
In 1891 the Richardson's daughter Henrietta is aged 5 - so not the same child. Unusually, they have two daughters named Mary: Mary E aged 7 and Mary A aged 2. (Mary A is on the next census page from the rest of the family).
The IGI has a baptism of a child named William Henry born to William and Henrietta Richardson 10 October 1880. The corresponding birth registration is in Salford district. A death of an infant William Henry Richardson was registered in Salford district March quarter 1881.

There were 7 sets of Richardson twins born between 1884 and 1905 (not all to the same parents presumably!). You can identify twins as they have the same reference number on Freebmd. Two sets died within the same quarter shortly after birth, and others died individually aged 0 or 1. Some of the remaining babies may also have died, but can't be identified from the index because they have common first names. As you have birth dates for the surviving children, you may be able to hazard a guess at which twins may be yours. The only way to check for sure would be to order birth certs for one child from each set of twins or you could try crosschecking on IGI to see if they were christened and if the parents' names match.
Afterthought;
Also, if one twin was stillborn, it would still be a twin as far as the parents were concerned, but it would not have been registered, so you won't spot those twins in the birth registrations.

Had a quick look at 1911 and William is now remarried to Mary 'less than one year'.
Henrietta died aged 49 Salford Dec 1909.

Both William's marriages were held at The Ascension Salford,I think therefore that any baptisms of their children would more then likely held there too.The records for these are held at Manchester perhaps if you put a look-up request someone may be able to help.
