The following death notice for my g-g-grandmother Euphemia Galbraith Affleck (1814-1900) who was married to Robert Robertson (1814-1869) appears to establish a connection with the Laird of Ctruan /Clan Donnachaidh
The 2 January 1901 death notice in the Melbourne (Australia) Age newspaper reads as follows:
ROBERTSON -On the 31st December at the residence of her son-in-law Mr John McNeil, " st Vincent" High Street, Northcote, Melbourne, Victoria. Euphemia Robertson nee Euphemia Affleck, eldest daughter of the late William Affleck of Ayr, Scotland and widow of the late Robert Robertson, grandson of the last Laird of Struan, Perthshire, Scotland of Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Kilmarnock, Scotland, aged 90 years.
Is anyone able to identify " the last Laird of Struan, Perthshire, Scotland of Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Kilmarnock, Scotland" grandfather of Robert Robertson.
Regards

In a "general clan history" for Robertson's, the last Laird they mention is Alexander R. 1669-1749 (13th).

Could they have lost the title of Laird after the '45? Or did they then start referring to them as clan "Chief"?
Since we know that Alexander died in 1749 as the 13th Laird, it might be worthwhile to trace his descendants forward for a 2-3 generations to see if your Robert appears.

Alexander Robertson, again mentioned here as the fifth Laird of Struan http://www.rootschat.com/links/07e6/
More interesting reading... http://www.rootschat.com/links/07e8/
may name his brother... http://www.rootschat.com/links/07e7/
from their chief seat and possession, Struan or Strowan—Gaelic S’ruthan, "Streamy "—the chiefs were known as the Struan Robertsons
There is mention of 11th laird of Strowan, died in 1636, here:

If you are able to access BBC I-Player, there is currently a programme which you can watch, on the Clan Robertson in the Scotland's Clans series.

I thought this sounded really familiar...excerpt from a different obituary...Her husband is listed as
"Robert Struan Robertson"
" .....Euphemia Robertson (nee Euphemia Affleck) eldest daughter of the late William Affleck, of Ayr,
Scotland, and widow of the late Robert Struan Robertson of Prince Edward Island Nova Scotia and
Kilmarnock Scotland aged 90 years"
So it seems some of the above obit in original query is missing some punctuation...(grandson of the last Laird of Struan, Perthshire, Scotland) being a seperate thought...
