I am sure that some time ago I had a record showing that Samuel SMITH (born in Norfolk) had the birthplace Attleborough recorded for him in one of the Essex census results. But I can't find it. Can anyone confirm this for me please?

No, it wasn't the ones born in Essex, but the ones living in Essex and who were born out of county. I felt sure that in the past I had seen a census return which showed Samuel SMITH and with an abbreviation of the word Attleborough after his name. He was married to Sophia WRIGHT in 1806 and they left Norfolk about a year later and moved to Maldon in Essex.
In 1841 he is listed as being age 63, a chaff cutter, not born in county. But that isn't the record that suggested he was from Attleborough. But I've seen that somewhere It's very frustrating.
I think he was about 30 years old when he married – I suppose he'd appear on a Norfolk census from Attlenborough or Diss (where his wife came from).
