Thankyou for looking Chris
Avies died in 1901 and I do have her through the census, it just seems strange that their is no site of her or her family pre 1949 when she married!

The Mid Kent Marriage Index 1754-1911, which can be useful for seeing where surnames occurred in a large part of Kent shows zero entries for the name HEARTH.

Thankyou bearkat
I think to advance the cause the 1849 marriage cert will have to be purchased....to see what it reveals?
Thanks

Aver Cox (spelt incorrectly on the transcript as the actual return says Avis or Aves) Aged 18
William I Cox (again the transcript is wrong. The return Clearly says William J Cox)
William Born Lambeth, Surrey, England
occupation Looks like Jappaner ???

Thankyou Chris
I do actually have all the census 1841-1901 for Avies, although their is a variation in the address I was given
I think the marriage cert and possibly a birth cert are on the cards to advance the cause, because the surname of Hearth doesn't ring true for me!

The image of Freebmd definitely is HEARTH, marriage reg. as AVEIS, not Avies Hearth.
Extracted marriage is also on IGI, Saint Dunstone, Stepney.
Think you will need to get the marriage cert ;)
Aveis HEARTH
Wiliam COX
March 1849
Stepney 2 375
Just because she was born Maidstone, Kent it does not mean the Family were from there or lived there for a long time.Often chidren were born in lots of places depending on the Fathers occp.
Having said all that cant find her in 1841.

The 1841 census (see below) I believe is Avies but Wilmshurst is a Maidstone name in 1851 so is Avies's surname Wilmhurst or Hearth (Hurst?) but I haven't found any further records of Bashemath Wilm Hurst (mum of Avis) as yet.....
1901
Avies Cox (nee Hearth) died in the Sep qtr of 1901 Shoreditch R.D, London with a stated age of 68.
