(Using IGI at the moment)
Right, i have a Thomas Clayton b1757 Fairfield, Derbyshire, he married a Grace Foxlow on 01/04/1782 in Fairfield, Derbyshire.
Now Thomas' Dad is also Called Thomas Clayton, and this Thomas married Ann Robinson on 09/07/1751.
When i go back and search for Thomas Clayton Snr's Birth working back from the marriage date. I do a rather large span of 1700-1740 two Thomas Clayton's come up from completely different families. One born in 1715 and one born in 1725 (both in Fairfield, Derbyshire.)
Now this would normally be acceptable but on the IGI record, which i understand has been transcribed, both of these individuals (1715 and 1725 births) married an Ann Robinson on 09/07/1751.
Does anyone at all have an any access to the parish records for the area at all, maybe on cd, to do a quick search for me?
All i am after is Thomas Snr's Parents, it is either;
Humphrey Clayton and Elizabeth Barker
or
Thomas Clayton and Ann Staley.
Many Thanks,
Tim.

Hi Tim,
The records you are looking at on the IGI are Patron Submitted, there are no early
registers for Fairfield on the IGI, so you need to view them at a Later Day Saints Center
or at the County Record Office, Matlock Derbyshire.
The following site, gives details of what ACTUAL registers are on IGI, this is useful
when the register you are seeking is on the IGI because you can search and it will not
produce Patron Submitted Items.
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm
For searches done via Family Search.org On an Individuals Result Page, bottom left there should be a Batch Number, commencing with:=
M= Marriages
C = Christening
K = Female Christening
J = Male Christening
If the Batch Number does not commence with one of the above letters then the information is
Patron Submitted and should not be taken as being correct.

Thankyou for the information.
i have Thomas' father
Thomas Clayton, he married Ann Robinson on 09 July 1751 in Hope, Derbyshire. Which i think is only down the road compared to where his son lived afterwards.
I'm really trying to trace down either of these people to their birth records. Any extra information on their marriage entry (09/07/1751) to indicate when they were born or where?
Because like i say i am at a standstill as to when Thomas Snr was actually born, 1815 or 1825 i think was the other entry.
Thankyou Again.
