I am looking for Irene Isabel MacBillin, George MacBillin and any other family. I am trying to find out where and when she was born, where she grew up, what school she went to? Anything?
She was married on the 7th June 1919 at The Parish church in the Parish of Denton in the county of sussex to Arthur Henry Moore (Age 23, Bachelor, Occupation Fireman (Railway)
The marriage certificate says she was age 25, spinster, No profession, Residence at time of marriage Denton, Father's name George MacBillin Deceased Occupation Electrician.
I do not have any information about her mother.
Irene and Arthur had six children - Marjorie, Leslie, Allan, Reginald (1922 - 2005), Rachel and Ron Moore.
She lived in Stafford Road, Caterham, Surrey until her death.
She died on the 14th Aug 1944 and is buried at St Mary's Church in Caterham, Surrey, England. The grave stone said she died aged 50yrs.
I have searched on ancestry.com and checked the census but I can't find the name anywhere other than on the marriage certificate and the grave stone. Please help?

Hi Nikki and welcome to RootsChat
Like you, I'm having trouble finding any entries. Do you have any more information about where and when the children were born?

Hi All
MacBilli/en is such an unusual surname :-\ All the children's births are showing in Newhaven with mother given as MacBille/in.
Getting no hits in Scotland, Irish 1911 census or elsewhere with the surname as it stands either.

The only one I'm sure about is Reggie Arthur Moore 25 th Jan 1922 - 22 sept 2005 as he was my grandad.
-
Reggie Arthur Moore was born in Newhaven Sussex

My mum said she thinks someone in the family thought Irene Isabel may have been adopted. I'm not sure where to go looking for that.

Just in case any of them are still living, I have sent you a PM (personal message) with the details of all the children's births
Look at the top of the page for incoming messages

Hi Nikki, my first thought was that this was a misheard MacMillan but that took me nowhere. I then tried Billin, still couldn't find George or Irene but something interesting did turn up.
IGI 1881 Census - 13 Napier St. Heigham Norfolk
MACK Billin 42 Shoemaker
Maria 40
Thomas P 10
Edith 8
Hannah A 4
Laura M 2
All born Norwich
Can't see this Mack anywhere else. I wonder if it was an abbreviation of his middle name which later got added to his surname. Still doesn't find George but could this be his parents and siblings?
Very long shot but as no MacBillins appear to exist before Irene it might be worth looking at.

Thanks Val,
I have been trying to find MacBillin for a few months by searching the internet. I went to Newhaven today and visited a number of libraries and museums. I think your right. The name doesn't seem to exist. I will start researching the alternative names that have been suggested.
Many thanks

I was also having trouble trying to find MacBillin and finally decided to Google the name and that's how I found these postings. Arthur is my first cousin once removed. I only had 3 children recorded - Reggie, Rachel and Allan - all born in Tarring Neville - so thank you for your information on the others which I shall now add to my tree. IF I can be of any help please contact me
