Can anyone please tell me if there's any images for marriages in Chester le Street for 1792.
The images seem to go from 1790 to 1799 with a gap of quite a few years.
Thanks

Hi
I presume you are looking at the Bishops' Transcripts on family search. I tried to construct an index for the Chester-le-Street images when I was looking at them a few months ago. In the 1765 to 1821 set of 1,083 images, there seem to be very few marriages. I indexed from image 1 to 500 and the marriage sequences that I found were:
Images Marriage dates
200-201 2 Dec 1783 - 21 Jun 1784
316-318 16 Jan 1798 - 21 Jul 1798
320-320 4 Nov 1798 - 15 Jan 1799
322-322 9 Jan 1799 - 13 Jun 1799
341-341 8 Nov 1800 - 15 Nov 1800
500-500 11 May 1805 - 1 Jun 1805
It looks as if somebody researching the originals before Family Search photographed them has extracted most of the marriage records.
The Bell index does not show any signs of these gaps so I presume there is a more or less complete set in the parish records at the Durham RO. You can get to the Bell index files via the Genuki site at
http://www.joinermarriageindex.com/pjoiner/genuki/DUR/ChesterleStreet/index.html
There are quite a few marriages indexed fo 1792 but the index only shows the date of the wedding and the names of the bride and groom.
All the best

The "images" are the images of Bishops' Transcripts for Chester-le-Street it is possible that the some of the original BT's were lost and could not be imaged. If so the surviving ones are on the "Pilot" programme for County Durham on familysearch. Parish Records seem to be in existance for these years. If you are looking for a Baptism or a Marriage these may be on the IGI.
On the Pilot programme Stanhope - St. John (i.e. St. John's Chapel) appears not to be functioning. Start it off with "Image 2" and it works fine after that.

Thanks Gobbo,
I should have asked you first ......... so they are missing ........ I've been raking around for days ...thinking they just might be out of place or dumped in another parish. I'll have to have a trip to Durham when I get time.
Thanks barry .... yes sorry ... I know where the BTs are ..... I should have explained myself better.
There is a submitted entry on IGI but it's mistranscibed ..... a woman marrying a woman !!!!
Thanks both
Jean .. just looked at the Bell Index .... and it's transcribed the same ... Mary marrying Isabella
-
Try Gobbo's suggesstion of looking up the Joiner marriage index before looking up the original. If the IGI and Joiner are the same it may be assumed that the original will be same too.

Hi
I guess that you are concerned with the marriage on 18 Jun 1792 where Mary Ramage is indexed as marrying Isabella Airey and I presume that you want to know the real forename of the groom, Ramage. The baptism records have just a few gaps so if you trawl through those you might get lucky and find a child born to XXX Ramage and Isabella. If XXX is Mary you will have to accept that that was his name.
All the best
Gobbo
P.S. IGI has a christening in Chester-le-Street on 21 Jul 1793 of John the son of Henry Ramage and Isabella.

I went a little further and checked Bishop (of Durham) Shute Barrington's marriage records of his parishes. These have both parents listed. Henry RaMMage and Isabella Airey had the following children baptized at Chester-le-Street.
Christopher 1799
Mary 1801
Robert 1804
Henry 1806
Ann 1809

Oh dear I'm not explaining myself very well and you're all trying so hard to help.
I should have given you more information.
Gobbo I'm sorry I already know his name was Henry, I was trying to find an image to see if there was anymore information, like witnesses.....
......and Barry ... thanks for finding the children ... there was also Smithson Ramage 1795 .... so sorry.
thankyou again

Hi Jean
You know that the wedding was on 18 Jun 1792 in Chester-le-Street between a Ramage and Isabella Airey. If you get in touch with the Durham Record Office and give them this information they will look the marriage up and send you a photocopy of the register for a few pounds. You can get in touch by telephone, +44 (0)191 3833253, or by e-mail, record.office AT durham.gov.uk
I expect that you have already seen image 339 in the Chester-le-Street 1765-1821 set of the Bishops' Transcripts, which includes the birth of Mary Ramage and gives the origins of Henry and Isabella (although I can only make out *ington, Yorkshire for Isabella - might be a case for RootsChat decipherers).
All the best

Thanks Gobbo ...... that'll save me a trip ...... others researching this family will probably have already done this but I like to see images for myself.
Yes the BT image for Mary's birth looks like Ketlington because the 't' looks to be crossed but it's Kellington, south of Selby, N. Yorkshire.
Thankyou
Jean
-
Looks like Kellington on my Woods transcript also.
Janis

I took a look at son Robert Rammage - Image 438. His mother's birth place is well written - Kellington, Yorkshire.
-
Yes Barry,
On Henry's (1806 page 507) and Ann's (1809 page 684) baptism it's clear as well.
The marriage in 1792 and the early children 1793, 1795 and 1799 are the images that seem to be missing.
That's why I was wondering if anybody knew if they were maybe out of order or maybe put in another parish by mistake.
Jean
-
The Bishops' Transcripts for the missing years are probably lost. If they were with another parish that would have been sorted out by now. Fortunately the Parish Records remain.
-
The missing pages are prbably lost. Even if misfiled they would have been found by now.
-
Yes Barry, when I have time I'll make a trip to Durham Record Office.
Jean
-
It's Terrington for Isabella. Regards, Lois
-
Hi again Lois ....... where did you get that from? ....... Killington seems so clear on some of the transcripts.

Hello Lynne,
Gosh It's getting so confusing with all these Henrys in my line .......
I think I have most of that but I'm just checking .... on the marriage of Archibald and Smithson I didn't have the ages but I did have an extra witness Henry Peverell ..... I thought that maybe would help with Smithson's family ...but no luck. ..... another blooming Henry....lol.
I got Smithson's death from Durham Family Search.
I did find a birth for a Smithson Peverall at Gainford 29th Nov 1725 daughter of Henry and Mary peverall ...with a sister Elianor Peverall born 17th Aug 1727 who married Joseph Carter in Chester le Street 8th July 1756 .....also a brother John Peverall 17th Dec 1716 who died 30th May 1717.....but I didn't get any further.
