Hi, am having trouble going back much further than this chap John DREW. He married Dennis Kenne Phillips in Bodmin in 1806 but I am trying to trace his birth. Needless to say there are lots of John Drews so I'm stuck. Any DREW afficionados out there please ?
Cheers

Good day,
I am also researching my DREW family. Unfortunately I don't have much to go on. The farthest I can trace back is my 2nd-great-grandparents, Elisha (also spelled Elija/Elijah) Drew (1851 - 1909) and his wife Isabelle (maiden name unknown). I suspect they're from Saham Toney, but I am unsure. Elisha and Isabelle moved from England to Throop, Pennsylvania in abt. 1886... They had 4 children: Dorothy, Margaret, William and John. John William Drew was my great-grandfather. Apparently everyone called him "Billy." He was born in England in 1883 and immigrated to Throop, PA with his parents. "Billy" married Mary Elizabeth Freeman. Apparently everyone called her "Lizzy." They lived in Throop, PA, then moved to neighboring Olyphant, PA before moving to Buffalo, New York. They had 6 children, among them my grandfather, Warren Drew (1924 - 1989).
Does this sound like your family?
Kind regards,
~ Cortney

I have also found his marriage on 17th April 1806 in Bodmin and the details of his children but can't find anything before either.
2 of their children were baptised in 1811 in Bodmin the other 4 children were baptised in 1822 in Uny-Lelant, Cornwall.
Do you have the details for the children already?
Regards

I have the children but haven't got the actual dates for the Bodmin children (I've got the 2 lelant ones). Any assistance would be gratefully received.

All I have on the children is:
William Henry Drew ch. 1822
John Phillipps Drew b. 23.8.1811 ch. 1822
Nicholas Phillipps Drew b. 11.6.1817 ch. 1822
Mary Jane Drew b. 14.12.1813 ch. 1822
All in Lelant, Cornwall
Dennis Phillipps Drew ch. 16.1.1811
Ann Drew ch. 16.1.1811
Bodmin, Cornwall.
I cannot find DOBs for the Bodmin children either for some reason. I'm sure you already had all this info, sorry if I've been no help at all!!

No, on the contrary, you've been very helpful. Thanks very much for taking the time and effort to find this out and let me know.
Thanks again

You're more than welcome. Hope you find what you're looking for in your future searches.
Be patient, I've recently stumbled across information that I've been looking for for nearly 2 years! Obviously new records have been transcribed and there it all was!!!!!! Made my day.
All the best

Deb,
Many thanks for the help on Dennis Drew. I'm afraid I haven't had any luck for 1841 either. In 1842 her husband was an excise man in cornwall so I sort of assume they were there in 1841 but no sign. The welsh connection also works because Dennis (Jackson) brother, John, moved to wales and married there in 1836.
Many thanks for your help anyway.
Regards
Dave

Hello John Drew was an exiseman in Swansea in 1842. His wife was Dennis Phillips b 19 nov 1783. John is my wifes 4x great grandfather. There are still Drews in Swansea 8¬)

Hi,
Many thanks for the info, I would be very interested in knowing if you have any information regarding John's family. I have quite a lot of stuff on Dennis(E) Phillips. John Drew is my 4x Great Grandfather.
Many thanks for the the note

John is the furthest back I (and a relative of my wife with a family tree) have gone with the Drews. Dennis is very interesting. She is decended from the Flamank family. Her great x8 grandfather's brother was Thomas Flamank of the famous 1497 Cornish rebellion, if my wifes relatives research is correct..

Yes, I have a great deal of stuff around Dennis and the Flamanks. Unfortunately, I can't go further back than John on the Drew side.
