Hi Sandalwood
Welcome to Rootschat.

Is this your Sydney with his mother and siblings?
1901 census has:
RG13/1703/50/39
Essex Brightlingsea
54 Sidney Street
Charlotte Gentry, wife, mar, 35
Charles, son, 9
Harold, son, 7
Sidney, son, 5
Willie, son, 3
Dora, daur, 6months
All shown as being born Brightlingsea

You may find posting on the Armed Forces board would be more effective in your search for information if it is his Army service, etc., that you are interested in. There are many very knowledgeable rootschatterers over there. You can always ask Rick to move it for you.

If it is his family background then perhaps the Essex board could help as Brightlingsea is in Essex rather than Suffolk.

Regards

Nell
