Andrew McCaughern married Hannah Carson and had Maria (1879), Hannah (c1885), Andrew (c1889) and possibly others. In 1911 Hannah, a widow, and children Hannah and Andrew are living at Church Tamlaght.

Not sure what family trees you mean (do beware of online trees as they can be full of errors, often copied from each other) but you are talking about 2 different McCaughern families.
John McCaughern (a common surname in the Rasharkin area) and Mary Ann Boyd had (according extracted births in IGI- www.familysearch.org):
1. Jane born 24 Mar.1870 Co.Antrim
2. Elizabeth bron 27 July 1872 Dirraw, Co.Antrim (Dirraw is the registration sub-district)
3. James born 11 Jan.1875 Lisnagaver, Co.Antrim
4. Anne Lena born 26 May 1878 Sisnagaver, Co.Antrim (this should be the townland of Lisnagaver)
5. Mary McCaughern born 7 Jan.,1881 Lisnagaver, Co.Antrim
These McCaugherns were Protestant- Church of Ireland or Presbyterian.
Patrick McCaughern and Teresa Mooney (possibly Catholic from their names) had:
1. Teresa born 17 Nov.1864 Portglenone, Co.Antrim (page 111 in civil register)
2. James born 23 Feb.1867 Portglenone, Co.Antrim (page 165 in civil register)
3. Patrick born 4 Mar.1869 Co.Antrim
4. Daniel born 25 Mar.1871 Co.Antrim
5. Catherine born 15 Apr.1874 Co.Antrim
6. Margaret born 9 Nov.1876 Ballymena, Co.Antrim (Ballymena is the registration district).
7. John born 9 Oct.1879 Portglenone, Co.Antrim

Thanks I will check I have all the information, but what I am trying to establish is which Catherine married Rbt McCaw. However, I agree about Presbyterian/RC so can see I can ind that ino on the Scottish census.
If you have any more info on any McCaughern/ McCahon etc, I would be very interested, as I am trying to trace then ALL. My Grandmother was a McCaughern (Matilda Jane McClaw) and her grandmother and grandfather were both McCaughrens
Thanks

My Grandmother was a McCaughern (Matilda Jane McClaw) and her grandmother and grandfather were both McCaughrens
McCaughern from which townland?
-
ggGrandfather John -Ballydonnelly, but also in Griffiths in school house Church Tamlaght. He was married to Jane McAuley
gggrandmother Margaret daughter of John McCaughern and Catherine McKeever at Moneyleck
Married into Alex and Sarah Rudd family at Lisnagavor!!
Looks like all the families around Rasharkin are relatives. Lots of in-breeding!
Thanks
Alex

My gg granny was Mary McCaughern born approx 1865 - she married Denis McMullan in St Marys RC 12 September 1886.
Seeing as this side of the family was all Catholic I presumed that she was another daughter of Patrick and Teresa's but I didn't see her on Aghadowey's post for the 2 families. LDS has been a wonderful resource in my research but surely it can't be relied on as completely accurate - this is the only family that I can safely put her with : timeline wise, name wise ( names are still common in family) and location Rasharkin/Portglenone.
Any advice

Hi
I am afraid I cannot find this Mary either. I think there many more McCaughern/ McCahons than are in the LDS.
I have 2 families in Portglenone area having children about the right time, but I have not yet established what religion they were.
1 John McCaughern and Ellen Irvine
2 Archibald McCaughern and Jane Crawford
I have a Jane McCaughren marrying a James McMullen about 1867, they are in the Portglenone area. They have a John born 1868 and Sarah 1869. I think they then move to Belfast.
However, in the 1911 census there are 2 sisters, Bridget and Catherine and their neice Sarah McMullan. Could this be a clue? They are R.C
Are these the parents of the Denis McMullen who emigrates to Canada 1920?
Can you give my information on children and where they went to?
Regards
Alex

Hi Alex
Hade a wee shoofty at my McCaughern / McMullan line but it seems that they weren't too fart travelled having never left the area, between Portglenone and Rasharkin. My Denis McMullan and Mary McCaughern had 3 children : Denis, Mary and James who married Catherine McKillop where I come from. They were definitely Catholic. Sorry I can't be of any other help.

New reply posted here has been split to start a new topic-
Hi,
Robert McCaw married Catherine McCahghan (sic) in Rasharkin Presbyterian Church, Ballymoney on 14 Aug 1885. I have no information on the children.
Regards
I came across this message reply- I am connected to the Robert McCaw you mentioned and am trying to find out more about his brother Hugh and their parents Hugh and Letitia nee Adams.
Have you any more info? I know they were in Glasgow by 1901 but cannot find them there before this.
-
I do not have much on this family, as my interest is with McCaughern, although my grandmother's middle name was McCaw or McClaw.
Hugh McCaw sr was born in Magheraboy, about 1840. His parents were James McCaw (c1796) and Mary ? The family are in he Rasharkin 1851 census in Moneyleck.
Hugh jr married Agnes Patterson in Glasgow 12 Jul 1900. They lived in Maryhill and in the 1900 census there are 2 children Leticia Adams and Sarah Margaret. I notice I have a death date for Hugh in 1911, although that probably came from another tree and the only Hugh McCaw dying in Lanarkshire in scotlandspeople is 1914. Hope the 1911 census will give you more info

Re Hugh McCaw sr, I see I have the wrong parents. Father was William on Marriage.

Hi there thanks for that, I know what happened to Hugh once he was in Glasgow- he married three times had twins Letitia and Sarah with his first wife Agnes Paterson ( Sarah was my grandmother), then had James with his second wife Agnes Mills, then married Jean Grant and went to Canada with her and James and died not long after he arrived in 1911 before he was able to send for the girls.
I also know about Robert and think I have a photo of him - he drowned in a canal in Glasgow.
-
My Grand mother was Letitia McDowall nee Mc Caw, she had 9 brothers and no sisters, they were from Rasharkin, and came to Glasgow to live. She married William Mc Dowall and had 6 children, my mother Elizabeth being one of them. Her brothers names were, Daniel, William, Thomas, Hugh, Robert, Alex, Joe and Jim.....I am looking for any information on her Mother Catherine Mc Caugheran. A very interesting family....Regards Elsa
-
Robert Mccaw your great grandfather- letitia's father was the brother of my great grandfather Hugh Mccaw who died in Canada in 1911. So we must be 4th cousins I think?
-
Catherine McCaughern married Robert McCaw 14 Aug 1885. I assume they were presbyterians. If this is so her parents were John McCaughern and Mary Ann Boyd, married 23 July 1861, Rasharkin. Catherine was born 3 Aug 1862 at Lisnagavor, Rasharkin and died in Glasgow. She had 6 brothers and 6 sisters.
John McCaugherns parents were John McCaughern and Elizabeth Buick
Could someone confirm that the famly were Protestant?
Thanks for the other information

This is Robert McCaw - he was a bridge keeper and lived at Dobbies Loan canal house. He drowned in the canal on 6th August 1939. My dad remembers going cycling with him on his tandem.
Can anyone tell me when he was born - I think it was about 1863?
-
I HAVE HIM BORN 1861 RASHARKIN
-
Thanks that was quick! - any evidence of when he came to glasgow?
-
All I know is sometime between his marriage in 1885 and 1901.Can't find him in 1891 census

Hi
I have a Mary McCaughern born about 1865 parents Rose Mooney and James McCaughern, Ballydonnelly, Rasharkin. I think it is she who marries Dennis McMullan, St Mary's, Rasharkin 12 Sep 1886

Hi Alex,
That sounds very similar - what relation are you to them ???
If this is correct we are indeed related - let me know.

-
Are your Taylor's linked to the McCaugherns?
-
I have Taylors related to McCaugherns, although still trying to tie these McCaugherns with my tree
-
Hi Alex- you and I are already talking- linked with Hugh Mccaw and family - Agnes Mills etc,
Sue Stevens ( nee taylor)
I wondered how Scarletmill was linked.
-
I do have Taylors linked but not directly. The McCaughern's are on my dads paternal side and the Taylor's are in the same time frame but on his maternal side i.e George Taylor married Peggy (Margaret) McLeister. Hopefully this clears up any confusion.

Hi,
Hugh and Letitia married in Finvoy Presbyterian Church on 11 Feb 1859. Their fathers were William McCaw and Robert Adams.
Regards
-
Hi not sure if this is any help.
In my ancestors I have a Matilda (also seen as Malinda) McCaughern (b about 1850. d 1910) married Robert Moore McMaster (b1849) Married 1st may 1874. Trinity presbyterian Church, Ballymoney, Antrim.
My relation to the McMasters is via Rainey marriage in 1848. The Raineys married the McCaldridges (who later became Alexanders) from Finvoy and surrounding areas, Ballymoney
I am afraid that is the only info at this time I have on mcCaughern.
