hi i am new to this site which is very interesting and informative i am sure i will use it often.does anyone know how i can get information regarding my grandfather who was listed as an inmate of Walton jail in the 1901 census thanks in advance

If you give his name he may be in the 19th Century British Library Newspapers which go past 1901.

The Prison may have some information about inmates amongst their historical records. It may not be kept at the prison of course, but nothing to lose from asking. You could always try the Liverpool Record Office as well.

thanks for replys i will follow these up. My grandfathers name was Joseph Abner Marsden he was born in feb 1861 and was born in birkenhead he was a widow in 1891. thanks again for help :)
