For Battersea there are many many pieces and each piece has approx 300-5-- pages to go through so just because your ancestors aren't on this piece they maybe on one of the others.
Unless you know a street they may of been in it makes it hard to go hrough them as it would be a very long process. Maybe someone who has access to another index might be able to help you as the cd's are only street indexed not name indexed
Sorry I couldnt be of much help to you
But if I do come across any I will let you know

Ok Shanko,
I don't have an address yet.
Thanks anyway, I will keep searching and let you know if I come up with anything.

I am not researching Orchard myself but found a stray one lodger at the home of my g-grandmother on the 1881 cenus. Wondered if she would interest you. Her name was Charlotte Orchard aged 62 born at Henley Castle, Worcester. She was a widow and an annuitant which means that she received an annual sum to live on probably from a former employer or her husband's former employer. She was living in Lewisham at the time.

Hi Shanko
Thankyou for the info.
I know very little about the Page family other than they were in the Battersea/Wandsworth area. I will keep it in my records and hopefully be able to connect to one of these.

updating this post now we know we have a connection.
Edith Alice born 1882 Balham is the sister of my husbands father Leonard Page born 1898 to Charles Page and Alice Lang.
1901 census has her occupation as a mantle maker ? welsbach dipper? fittings also it looks like Gas F has been crossed out. This could be why you mention Gas connection in your other post ?
Her sister Maud was a dressmaker. I was told by my siser in law that she was a dressmaker to the courts.

Hi Shanko
I am trying to find Nightingales in Battersea, who married into the Allen family. My search for marriage certificates has drawn a blank. The Nightingale in question is (Florence) Elizabeth Nightingale born c1860. She became a cook and married a Thomas Allen, a woodpavement company foreman, who ended his days at an Epsom hospital for the insane due to a head injury. I have found a census 1911 entry, possibly for their child my GGM Violet May Allen at 21 Wickersley Road which is signed off by a Florence Elizabeth Nightingale and has a Mr Allen on the front, however my Nan says that her uncle was not known as Edward (she may be mistaken). Oddly daughter is crossed out and lodger was writen over the entry. On the birth cert for my GGM the names are Elizabeth Allen (formerly Nightingale) but my mum said that she was named Florence. Was it common for people to drop names they may not have liked on Official docs do you know?
There are so many Nightingales who have lines dating back to 1450's it would be great to make some progress on this and possibly link to them, not least as I would like to show my Nan who is 94 something significant :) We think there maybe a quaker link too.
many thanks
