Hi All
I am trying to trace my Great, Great Grandmother Jane Clark.
She married Jefferson Graham in 1890 in the Morpeth Registration district. On the 1891 & 1901 census transcripts her birthplace is listed as Seaton Delaval and her birth was 1869.
I can find no record of her or ancestors prior to her marraige 1890.
Can anybody help me trace her
Thanks in anticipation

Ray,
Isy's find of Clark family in North Seaton is a candidate for your Jane.
However there are a couple of georgraphic differences.......
Your Jane states on C1891 & 1901 her "Where Born" to be Seaton Delaval.
The Jane, dtr of John/Margaret is recorded as born North Seaton.
Seaton Delaval is south of Blyth, and was one of the eight "townships" in the Parish of Earsdon.
North Seaton is north of Blyth, and was one of the "townships" of the Parish of Woodhorn. ( in this area there was only the North Seaton, no South, East or West Seaton.
( But it is to be noted that the census enumerator put Trimdon in Northumberland -it was/is in County Durham).
North Seaton lay within the Morpeth Registration District.
Seaton Delaval lay within the Tynemouth Reg Dist.
What was your Jane's father's nameand occupation - from her marriage record ? Was it John ?

Thanks Issy & Michael for the info in both your replies.
This looks like a candidate albiet not qiute geographiclly correct. I have not ordered the Marriage certificate yet as I will be travelling to the UK next month and planning to pick it up in person. Will let you know what her fathers' name is when I collect the certificate.

Be aware that ( in my experience) Morpeth Reg Office ( Newgate St) do not copy/write out the certificate while you wait. There will send it to you by post
( unless you are "flying home tomorrow" etc )

Thanks for info about Morpeth Registry Office.
By the way in 1871 there is a Clark family living in Whitridge Row Seaton Delaval.
Robert Clark Born Bedlington 23
Mary Clark Morpeth 21
Margaret J Clark Seaton Delaval 1
I wonder if Margaret J is Margaret Jane?

Ray,
Sorry, must dash- off to one of my other passions- Racing at Sedgefield
Have a look at 1881 census (page ref 5115-82-23, a candidate for that Margaret J, ten years after..... ages, occupation ok, Robert and Margaret J birth places don't tally , but ??
There is a candidate for a Margaret Clark 1868 in both Tynemouth ( for Seaton Delaval) and Morpeth ( for Bedlington)
Also marriage reg Dec 1867 Morpeth.. Robert Clark marrying ( very likely ? ) Mary MILLER.... did you spot the two sibling-in-laws called Miller on the 1871 census.
What is needed is finding both a Jane and Margaret J on same census to accept that they are two different people... or vice versa..

Yes I saw the Clark family in 1881 Census living in Bedlington and spotted the sibling Millers. This is where my mother, Grandparents & Great grandparents lived
I think I need to wait and get the Marriage Cert. for Jefferson Graham & Jane Clark to see if her father is John or Robert. This will hopefully discount one set of parents.
Cheers
