I was wondering if there were any maps which showed up names of farms. A lot of my forebears were farmservants way back and worked in the Cruden area before moving up to the Old Deer and Strichen area.
I'm particularly interested in the Cruden area and I have the names of Gask, Tillymaud and I think "Sethermills" (that came from a marriage cert). I also have the name Brownhill in the Slains area. I have others but if I could find where these were located it would be a start.
Can anyone help? :)

That is a really useful link.
I was in Cruden earlier in the year, looking for various places where my ancestors lived. I could have done with this map then!

Most of these places are still marked on the modern OS maps, which can be seen online at:
http://www.streetmap.co.uk.
I invariably go to those first and then try to match them up with older ones where they are available. It can also throw up shifts in spelling.
