Title: St Dunstan burial.
Post by: LinnettW on Friday 21 August 09 09:31 BST (UK)
Can anyone help please. Copy of entry in very old diary says 'William Wickham died Saturday 12 of July 1828. Buried at Stepney Church Yard the 20th of July.'
His existence was unknown as he was born quite a few years after the last known child.  His father is supposed to have been lost at sea and this birth and death will have him still in England in 1828.

I notice your heading is " St Dunstans", St Dunstans and All Saints is in Stepney High Road, which comes under Mile End RD , some Stepney churches come under Mile End according to Cliff Webbs Victorian London, my guess is to search the rcords at the LMA in London if possible, if you have an address where this person lived it might just narrow it down.

Dear Louisa Maude,

Thank you for your reply and the information that I can use to try and find William Wickham.  I have no idea where they lived as each child was christened in a different church/area from 1803 to 1813 and then William appears 1828. I have IGI prints of the baptisms but don't know where to go to get the actual baptism certificate.  Again my thanks.

Wickham family timeline.
Sarah ? born c 1746 unknown place.
Married ? Wickham. Unknown place.
Robert Wickham son of Sarah and ? Wickham born c1780 unknown place.
Roberts father died ?
Robert apprenticed to John Wilkinson stonemason St John Street Westminster London 4.2.1795 for 7 years. Apprenticeship finished 1802.
Robert married Ann Osborn, born Little Haddam Hertfordshire 7.2.1786, on 13.11.1802 St Martin in the Fields London.
Robert was said to have been lost overboard coming home to England after going to Sth Africa to work for a Mr T Harrington of London. A Robert Wickham, a stonemason, applied to stay in the Colony after finishing a contract. Its hard getting paperwork from Sth Africa but I will keep on trying. Wonder if there are rellies there. Thanks for previous info and for anything that you all might think can help me. I look forward to getting your replies.
Regards,
LinnettW
