Hi all,
I'm new to this site :) and wonder if someone could help me. I'm trying to trace my grandfather's birth certificate or baptism. His name was Henry Sanders on all the census' and birth certificates of his children that I have but on his widow's death cert he is named as Abraham. So his birth name could be Abraham or Henry Sanders, son of Richard and Jane. I have found them on the 1861 census as living at 'Crop' Bradninch - looks like anyway, where he was 7. All the census' after that indicate that 1854 should be correct for his year of birth but I just can't find it.
Any help would be very gratefully received.
Thanks
Jacquie

Welcome!
There is this birth (Bradnich is in Tiverton Reg District)
Apr/May/Jun 1853
Henry Sanders
Tiverton 5b 394
Census ages are often inaccurate, but even if the person gives an exact age, the year of birth calcualted from it will depend on what part of the year the census was taken in relation to their birthday so will often be one year out.

I dont know the area either! But I'll give you a tip ... on the 1861 census that you have them on, on the index page, it gives the Registration District! So if they are still living where they are born that helps.
