Hi All
Many thanks OR, kyt and Pete for your replies. The main reason I'm trying to find out information is that she was awarded the BEM in the New Years Honors list in 1945 does anyone know if this was a regular occurrence or did she do something special to receive this?
Many thanks
Eric

I reckon if you post her name, someone here will be able to look up the BEM for you.

The British Empire Medal was an award awarded for an act of gallentry or a cumalative level of good service whilst on duty.
Civil awards usually got a citation in the LG but military ones didn't always. If hers doesn't have a ciation then try searching the NA recommendations database

Glad you've been succesful. What was the BEM for?
Pete.

Hi Pete.
Again many thanks for your help. It was essentially for meritorious service in the discharge of her duties on radar No1 530 (mixed) heavy Anti Aircraft royal artillery.
Best wishes
Eric
