Title: Buckinghamshire residents/Boer War
Post by: Wmouse on Tuesday 18 August 09 22:02 BST (UK)
Can anyone tell me if you can obtain information on people who fought in the Boer War from Buckinghamshire? I am looking for information on my great Grandfather, Thomas Bull born 1873 in Padbury and served in the Boer War.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Wendy

There is a website www.roll-of-honour.com/Buckinghamshire/CoombeHillBoerWar.html which gives the names of those who died but also has some other links

Hi Jenny,

Thanks for the information. It seems interesting.
What I was looking for was if one could get copies of the soldier's Boer War military record. I ask because we don't know much about my great grandfather as he disappeared early in 1901. My grandmother was about 3 and never talked about her dad. It has only been recently that I found out he served in the Boer War in 1901 and the came to Canada, settling in Saskatchewan. My grandmother lived in B.C. from 1925 on and it seems did not know her father was so close.
As you can guess I would like to find out as much as I can about him for my father who is 83, as well as to pass down to my children and so on.

Wendy,

Do you know which regiment he served with? If you do it would probably be a good line of enquiry to contact their achivists/museum curators who might have info on soldiers who served with them in the Boer War,
