Hello all you chatters.
Looking for help trying to locate information on the above names. I have very little information to give. I know that Mary ellen was born approx 1887 and she met my gggranddad maurice in Dublin where they had my grandmother Mary Ann in 1920. They then came to Wales in 1921. I believe that Maurice is from Carlow and is one of many tall brothers!!
i know that to find any ancestors/information i will need to invest in my gggrandparents marriage cert, but i am not sure how to go about finding it. Silly i know as i have managed to trace my welsh/english ancestors back to 1793....comletely stumped with irish geneology.
Any advice/help fully appreciated, pointers most welcome. Thank you in advance

An index to Irish Civil BMD registrations is available at : http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#c=1408347;p=2;t=searchable
if you find a promising match you can order a cert by post from the GRO using the Index details - see www.groireland.ie
The 1911 census data for Dublin (and 8 other counties) is available online at the National Archives website : http://census.nationalarchives.ie/
Other counties plus the 1901 data is due to follow.

Thank you very much Shane,
I found the details of the record office but didn't know what i was ordering.
much appreciated :)

Thanks again Shane
I have managed to locate their marriage will order cert tomorrow. Any suggestions on census searches?
-
They may be easier to locate on the 1911 census once you know the fathers names & occupations from the marriage cert.
Do you know if Mary and Maurice were both born in Dublin ?

I believe Mary ellen to be born in Dublin , MAurice i believe to be from Carlow. I estimated Mary ellen to born @1887 but through the site you reccommended found a possible birth of 1890, making @21 during the 1911 census.
i also have a likely birth for maurice in 1886. The site you suggested was brilliant, i can't believe i have never used it before..thank you!!
As you suggest it would be easier to wait for the cert, but there is something about finding it yourself. It's not like i have the time to search either!

The age is a little bit out but there is only one good match for Mary in Dublin that I see :
http://census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Dublin/New_Kilmainham/Sarah_Place/59120/
Mary Daniels age 27 living with her brothers and sisters at 23 Sarah Place, New Kilmainham, Dublin
The Co. Carlow census data is not available online yet

You might like to have a look here too, some information on Carlow.

Had a quick look, thought this may be a possibility

Just wish there were details further back!
Thanks again

the age on that one looks a better match..
the 1901 data is due to be added to the National Archives website later this year after all the county 1911 data is complete.

I like this site it,s most helpful

i am still looking through this link, the only trouble is you have to register with this site, and i have already paid for the membership with genes. i may have found them in passenger list etc.
So thank you

Is it the censusfinder web-site you mean ?
You should not have to pay for any Irish Census details - all the 1901 and 1911 data will be available free of charge on the National Archive website.
Some of the details on that website seem to be quite out of date - for example they have the old Lombard Street address for the GRO. They moved to the Irish Life centre a few years ago.
