Title: Collins born Cork emigrated South Wales
Post by: wagcol09 on Tuesday 18 August 09 17:52 BST (UK)
Please help. I don't know where to begin to look to find out information on my Great grandfather Morris Collins who married Annie. Both are registered as being born in County Cork.
They lived in Aberavon (port Talbot), Wales in 1901, both were in their 40's then.
Hope someone can suggest where  I look to find out their birthplaces or their marriage details.
Thankyou

It looks like the birth of Morris and Annie could be before Civil registration started in 1864, but if they married in Ireland they should be included. There is an Index to Irish BMDs available at : http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=2;t=searchable;c=1408347

Cert can be order from the GRo using the index details - www.groireland.ie

Collins is quite a common Cork name so it might be difficult to narrow down the correct people. Do you know Annie's maiden name from a birth cert ?

Thankyou so much. That was really helpful. I have found 3 Maurice Collins married in Cork around the time he would have got marred. I'm going to check the birth dates of his children to narrow down the marriage certificates.

Thanks again.
