I am researching my ancestors - the Tustins, who lived in Worcestershire / Warwickshire in 1760s onwards. my 4x Great Grandfatehr was born in 1767 and married in 1806, possibly in Birmingham. The girl he married was 14 / 15 when they married. I know that lots of marriages happened very young then, but is this likely? he would have been 38 so there is a BIG age difference. I have searched for other marriages for a susanna to a someone else Tustin, but it seems like quite an unusual surname then and nothing else seems to ahve turned up. He died in 1831, having fathered 9 children - he was tired I think!!! :)
It just doesn't all stacc up quite properly, but maybe I am just being a bit conventional :)
any advice would be greatly recieved
cheers

From a pragmatic point of view, what time period between 1806 & 1831 were these kids born?
That'll indicate when (or if) she had reached menopause.
-
1806 through to 1826, she was 34 / 35 when she had her 9th child...
-
Hmm, Wonder why no kids 1827-1831?
What are we baseing her age-at-marriage on?

IGI data for marriages between a george tustin and a susanna, which just happens to give her surname as warr.
I couldn't find he rin 1841 census, but she is more than likely alive then, but not sure...
-
hmm, did the IGI marriage give her age? It's not usual to do so at that era.
You might do better searching registers for her death to establish a birth year.
-
no, just an estimated year of birth - 1791
-
typically as I start askign questions, i find her in 1841 census, aged 60!!! still makes her born 1791...
-
no it doesn't!!!!!
1841 - 60 = 1781!!!!!
that's a little better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
The records you've found in IGI come from different sources- the marriage is extracted (taken from church record) and the other listings seem to be submitted (one gives her date of death as 1842).
-
hmmmm... still not quite right! aaah, one mystery seemingly ends and another one looms into view!

What is the source? if IGI is it a submitted or extracted record?

I found 5 susannah tustins death records on free BMD... the only one that might fit is in 1943
