Title: M I's for Hawick
Post by: GeeBee1 on Monday 17 August 09 07:50 BST (UK)
Hi folks,
Does anyone have info, or know where I can get such info on M I's for Hawick cemeteries?
I am looking for an inscription for William Brown, a Coachman with the Royal Bank of Scotland in Hawick, who died 15/8/1881. His estate suggests that he was able to afford a headstone.

Any help appreciated

Gary

Thanks for that Alan,
went to the site........really can't understand how it works and what they have to offer.....they don't even have there subjects in alphabetical order.
I should be thankful that not all my ancestors came from Hawick.
Regards
Gary

Additional problem too - there are three graveyards that would have been open at that date - Wellogate, Wilton and the Episcopalian one - St Marys I think would have been 'full' by then.  Haining's papers are not indexed completely, but it might be worth contacting the Hawick Archaeological Society itself - it does have a website - to see if someone would be kind enough to look for you.
