CQMS Allen was killed in a plane crash. I am just starting to research him
Click for my notes on CQMS Allen (http://www.cairogang.com/soldiers-killed/allen/allen.html)
Can anyone add anything about the crash?

I have also found out that there was an aerodrome at Crinkill from 1917 to 1922.
You can see it on the OS sat map - click for sat map (http://maps.osi.ie/publicviewer/#V1,606887,702424,5,0)
The old airstrip is in the centre, and the ruins on the Barracks are at the top right centre.

I think Joseph Antill could be the son of John Antill and Priscilla Sharpe, husband at the time of his death to Fanny (nee Provost).
This is them on 1871 census at The South Front Barracks, Western Heights, Hougham, Dover:
ANTILL, Joseph M 33 1838 Quartermaster Cook, Rifle Brigade, Mountsorrel Leicestershire
ANTILL, Fanny F 24 1847 Cambridgeshire
ANTILL, Fanny Lawrence F 1 1870 Winchester Hampshire
Fanny re-married in 1875

I'm sure you've figured it out already, but the sergeant buried in Crinkill is unlikely to be your great grandad as the soldier buried in Crinkill was in the 3rd Leinster Regiment and had no service with the 66th.
The list on FindAGrave is fairly incomplete, the full list of those buried there with and without a gravestone should be published sometime next year.
Hope this helps.

Hello
I came across your post copied below when doing some research on John Marks. I did have a copy photo of his headstone but I cannot find it anywhere on my. computer....... would you have a copy I could have? I would be so grateful.
My interest came about by finding that John Marks married Catherine Connolly.
Many thanks
Derek

I noticed on this certificate it listed his cause of death, I'm trying to discover the cause of death of my great, great aunt, Sarah Jane Hornsby. She died in Parsonstown in 1871 aged 8.
