Title: BROOKS/NEWBY (Charles John & Mary Thomasine)
Post by: AnneG7 on Monday 10 August 09 11:47 BST (UK)
I believe my great grandfather, Charles John Brooks, remarried following the death of his first wife Rosanna.   His second wife was Mary Thomasine Newby, and I have them living at 4 Slater Street, Tipton Staffs, in 1911.   Mary came from York City, and I wonder if anyone has any information or connection with her or her family.   If so, I would be delighted to hear.

He was left with a big family when Rosanna died. No wonder he remarried quickly, that was very common.

But they have moved up north by 1901

Looks like Mary T Newby was a widow before marrying your Charles, and had been down south for many a year.

The 1861 reads Thorganby for George Plummer which is South East of York
George is single, a footman in 1851, in service to The Deputy Lieutenant of the West Riding of Yorkshire.
