Hi,
House History
I am doing the history of my terrace cottage house (built in 1857) and I am trying to locate any old maps of littlemoss, Droylsden (was in Ashton under lyne) to see if the house can be outlined.
Lumb Lane corner of Hyde Street, Littlemoss. Can anyone point me in the right direction I have not got a clue where to look.
Thanks
Dee

Hi Dee, :D
go to the Old Maps site and type the postcode of your house into the search box. That should give you a choice of maps of your area from different decades, the earliest is usually about 1850.

If you select one that has a scale of 1:10,560, you can zoom in and look at the details, and with any luck your house will be there. I don't think you can print it off though - you're supposed to buy a copy!
Or to buy really good cheap ones of the area generally, there is the Alan Godfrey collection.
- maybe this one of Droylsden and Medlock Valley from 1906?

Hope this helps

Hi Dee
Try Tameside Local Studies Library in Old Street Ashton-under-Lyne for old maps. I think you may find that Littlemoss was part of Audenshaw at one time; Waterhouses (Daisy Nook) certainly was.
