Hi I realize this is a very long shot/tall order....but I've no other info than:-
I had a relative Known to me as Beryl Rose or Rosa Brooks who married in Nottingham
May 26th 1956...gave father as William Brooks (deceased) age 46
The next info was from 1911 census William Brooks (head) Nottingham
Beryl Rose Tabor Given as Niece age 2 place born Wolverhampton
I've received today a birth Certificate as follows
1st December 1908 51 Oak Street (Wolverhampton?) Beryl Rose....Girl...Father George Tabor
Mother Grace Tabor formerly Chester Occupation Joiner
and then under the heading Signature,Description and residence of informer
Grace Tabor Mother 8 Trinity Road East Finchley London
I can find no marriage of these parents and nether of the names fit into my research so far
So ANY Help would be very welcome
Regards Phil

Hi again,
just for you to note and perhaps file away somewhere- sorry ::) :-\
I've been looking for Grace Chester but with nothing much to go on - it's hard ::)
1911 has a Rosa Jane Chester living in Finchley and 1901 has her as a domestic servant- nurse in North Finchley with the Tunnicliffe family. Further check- same family in 1911 so highly unlikely that she has anything to do with this. It was just the name Rosa and Finchley that was interesting.
1891 - she is home in Hampshire - no Grace!
There is another Rosa Chester in Paddington in 1891 and they are possibly related to each other.
On the other hand, there is a Grace Chester b 1838 living Wolverhampton in both 1901 and 1911 - obviously too old.
It would be good to find out who was living at those addresses in 1908, I suppose.
Sorry for rambling.

Hi
What date was the birth registered?
It's strange that she was born in Wolverhampton but mothers address was given as East Finchley
-
Hi and thanks for your interest so far
The Birth was registered on 6th January 1909
This lady has Been a mystery to me for well for ever...My mother (who was an in-law to this family) had said she was the daughter of a cousin to the family. She was disabled from birth.
But having found her entry in 1911 the unusual names and a birth at about the right time.
We thought at last we may have the solution....but only more questions...and no answers

The other oddity is that she appears to have been born within a marriage (on the face of it) yet later married as Brooks and gave William Brooks as her father - not George Tabor
-
Logically the mother gave false details - perhaps some poor girl who got into trouble and came to Wolverhampton to have her baby
William has a younger sister Ann b 1869 - have you managed to trace her through the census?

Hi Willow,
Either you or I am looking at the wrong Brooks family. The one I have is at 1871 RG10; Piece: 3515; Folio: 14; Page: 22 where Ruben Brooks is with brothers and a father Henry.
Help us Phil ;D

Lol your right Heywood I had him with father George in 1871 because I did a search on William nor Reuben

There is a Grace Chester on the 1891 census b St Pancreas 1881
RG12/66 Folio 42 Page 79

Hello again,
I just feel that the mother would not make up both names entirely but I suppose it is very possible. The name George Tabor does occur in several places and censuses.
I have looked at this site: http://www.wolverhamptonarchives.dial.pipex.com/pdf.files/elecregs.pdf
but it says that, if there are any electoral rolls for Wolverhampton for 1908, they are at Staffordshire Records.
It may be worth trying to find our who was at 51 Oak Street for 1908/09.
Can't think of much else - apart from googling for East Finchley records too.

Hello haywood and Willow 4873
Sorry about the Reuben/William....he dropped the Reuben from his name at the time of his marriage.
it was never used again...I didn't know him he but was always referred to as William and was the devil to find at birth and in the census's.
he had no sisters, so I was expecting the mother of Beryl to be a Coxon from his wifes family
Francis c 1857, Eliza c 1869 or Kate c 1871 or could it be she came via one of Williams brothers children? more questions than answers at this stage.
I will try to find out more on Grace Chester b St Pancras 1881
Do you have the info on the rest of this family in 1891?
Regards Phil
-
It's difficult with it being 1908 - you could do a 1911 address search for 8 Trinity Road East Finchley perhaps.
1901 RG13; Piece: 1234; Folio: 107; Page: 28
has a Wightman family living there who all seem to be born around the area.
However, there is a Mary Jackson b 1838 Nottingham there too- a monthly nurse. Could be a big red herring ::) because she is 63 yrs and this is 7 years earlier. :(

Hi Again
I will have to try to find more information on both address given on the Birth certificate,
to see if there is any relationship between the people actually living there and the names given.
As I live in Nottingham it may be a little while till I get the chance to visit the local area.
Once again many thanks for your help....and any Ideas you may have will be very much appreciated
Regards Phil
