Hi Past Master,
Yeah Sorry :-[ any info on where she was born and her ancestors :).
-
she doesnt seem to be registered with first name Annie (at least in Here'shire)
do you know her parents full names please ?
-
Hi,
No I`m Sorry I don't the only info I got is a Clipping from a newspaper that mentions some of the above and my mothers Birth certificate 8th July 1930 which Annie's address at the time was bush House,Scwrfa,Dukestown,Tredegar and Albert was a Railway shunter.
-
stumped then - I've looked at all plain Annies, and Annie J's (and tried Jean - Ta, AVM228 :) ) and reversed the forenames 1891 - 1911 !
Looked for marriages of a WH Jenkins in Herefordshire, and tried the 1911 census - cant see her !
maybe others will spot something :(
I'd recommended getting the 1924 marriage cert to reveal Fathers full names - hopefully ... :)
-
Hi,
ok Thank you for taken a look for me :)
-
just looked at the occupants of Corn Square in 1901 - #10 occuped by a Samuel & Alice Tat~~~~, and no sign of a relevant Jenkins family in the square :(
-
Just had a look at 1913 directory, and there is no W H Jenkins mention (there's an Oliver Jenkins on South Street).
It might be that you have to get the marriage cert before you can take this line back further.
-
Hi,
I have found a Jenkins at 55 Etnam Street ( Kelly Dir Hereford )
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/HEF/Leominster/Kelly1879.html
I wounder if the Newspaper got the address Wrong ?
-
thats 20 years earlier !
-
Hi Past Master,
Yeah I know :P but could that not have been the Parents of Annie ? the paper might have got the address mixed up ?.
-
everythings possible in the genealogy business - but its not supported by the relevant census !
spooky thos that its the same address as the Evasons in 1924 !
-
Mrs Jenkins is still there in 1881......

so you want to switch the focus to the Evasons ?
I can only look in detail at the 1901 census, altho they may be 'visible' in the Index of the 1911 ..

according to the IGI, in the Parish of Condover, William Evason (no middle name shown) was born 16th May, 1830 to a Benjamin & Hannah.
a marriage in the same Parish in June, 1829 indicates that Hannah was née Carter ...... so the Oliphant name may be an earlier generation, or perhaps on his Mum's family side ?
These are 'extracted' records, so taken from the original PRs, subject to transcription errors only ....
cant see them in the area in 1841 yet ...
-
not far away - in Shrewsbury ... the Enumerator kindly tells us that this District was 3.5 miles from Shrewsbury ...

Benjamin has 'Mum' with them in 1851 (back in Candover), but William has flown the nest - cant see him anywhere ???

going back to William & Margarets marriage - there is a Margaret Quirk born 1833 Whitehaven - but she's in Southampton in 1851 !!

West Street
Margaret Quick/Quirk UNMARRIED 19 Head SCHOOLMISTRESS born Whitehaven, Cumberland

they did get around !!, but it points strongly to the marriage being the right one, esp. as they were both Teachers ...

Marriages Jun 1924
EVASON Albert R Leominster Volume 6a Page 1259 [ to Jenkins Annie J ]
Marriage - plug the relevant info into the online order form for the GRO:-
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/
1911 you will have to fly solo, RC doesnt allow research and transcription for it. :(
http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx
altho if you are having problems with the Index search, by all means ask :)
-
Alternatively you can ring the Leominster Register Office and order by phone and pay with a card. That is quiclest way.
-
Good point - but if you do, dont quote the reference info above as its a foreign language to an LRO!
Hopefully by giving them the date of the marriage and the Church / RO they will go straight to the entry.
Fees are supposed to be the same nationwide, but I've heard of some examples where an LRO charge more for a quick turn round - its £7.00 from the GRO for comparison, and about 4 days lead time at present :)
-
Hi,
Thank you both for all your help :)
