That was a really kind offer.....would you please be able to help me as I don't have a subscription as I'm just starting out on this family history thing!
I have two people - brothers - that I am hoping to see names for between the UK and South Africa - probably on the castle union line from southampton.
They are Henry Walter Humby Brown (and wife Edna) who went sometime from 1904 and returned before 1935. He was born c1882.
And his brother who was the baker on the Union Castle line ships (might not be on passenger lists?) - William John Brown born c1885.
Any help you can give would be wonderful!!

For arrivals in SA prior to 1890 (i.e. the year the findmypast search facility begins) sources are extremely diffuse and not centrally held.

This is only one page - there are other archived posts on the blog covering the passenger list topic. Use the 'labels' feature, or the blog 'search' or just scroll through the archived posts on pasenger lists, immigration and similar topics.
In Natal we have the European Immigration Index - but it is not online - it's at Pietermaritzburg Archives; if you're at a distance, you need someone local to check the Index and follow up in the original registers.
Another option: have a look at the familysearch.org site, go to Search Records, click on Library Catalog and search on Place - enter Natal South Africa - then on the list shown go to Immigrant Records 1845-1911 - click on View Film Details for a list of filmed records from Pietermaritzburg Archives European Immigration Department. If you're near a Family History Centre, films can be ordered at minimal cost.
