hi i am trying to find info on my grandfathers children from a previous marriage. his name was george duncan born 1879. i believe he married an alice ball in 1899 and they had a daughter alice born 1900. he also had two more sons after this but i cant find if alice was the mother or not. one was called george born around 1905 and the other was called william or robert. sorry thats all the info i have. if anyone can help i would be so happy as i,m stumped!

The free 1911 census index suggests that he was still married to Alice Mary in 1911. Children Alice Maud age 10, William Henry age 9 and George age 7.

George's Army papers show exact birth dates for the children:
Alice Maud 3/9/00
Wm Henry 29/12/01
George 25/9/03

He's still married to Alice in 1914.

oh my gosh thank you all so much, you have managed to do in a few minutes something i,ve been looking for for ages!! dare i ask if you can find if he divorced alice? as he went on to have two more children, my mother and her sister with another lady called kate rolfe? i can find no marriage records, and story goes that alice was in some sort of home with a mental illness of some kind.

I can't see a second marriage for George Henry either - makes you wonder whether he actually ever divorced his fist wife...

Hiya Sophie...I`ve found the 2 births from George Duncan and Kate Rolfe i 1922 and 1925....can`t put their names in case they are still alive...checking for a marriage....allan...PM`d you ;)

hiya yup sure do kate was born april may or june 1890 at botleys and lyne surrey   dont honestly know if it was her second marriage but mum never said anything about that, only about her fathers first marriage

hi allan, no not that i,m aware of. all i know is that kate, george duncan and the two girls originally lived in king street garston and then moved to monkfield way garston . if the girls were born in garston i have no idea. mum said that kate was in land army at andover? and that is where she met george.

P C Duncan b 1922 West Derby 8b 1294.....are either of them hopefully still with us ?...allan

you found georges army records, did the land army keep records too?? if they married in the army would it be recorded in a seperate place??

allan, if this is of any use, my mum told me she used to go into liverpool city wih her mum to pay some sort of maintenance payment to his first wife? i dont really understand this as his first lot of children were all in their twenties when mum and her sister were born??? so maybe he was paying for his first wife to be in a home??
