There is a Nettlebed history website. If you scroll down to the bottom, you will find e-mail address for the Parish Council
Clerk, who it says will be happy to help with more information about Nettlebed history.

The Oxfordshire Family History Society might be able to help you.

I came across a website devoted to the history of one of the other pubs in Nettlebed, the White Hart. Not much help, but you might find it interesting.

Hope this helps a little,

Elias Gardner and his wife Frances Philips lived in the Red Lion in the 1851 & 1861 census, with their grandson Elias William Lewis (also spelled Louis) Heath. Hope this helps. E.W.L. Heath was born in Crowmarsh, Oxfordshire in 1853. You can find him easily on Ancestry with that lovely name.
