I am looking for information on the Parents of George Jenkins i know (from an old family tree) that he born on the 3rd Oct 1810 (st.George the martyr) Southwark...However this tree has proved somewhat incorrect in the past.
He married Caroline Susanna Hix in October 1834 and i have a very poor photo copy of the original.
There son George was born on the 19th June 1836 ( christened 4th may 1838 St. Giles Camberwell)
I have George's death certificate dated 16th Feb 1846 aged 36 (District of Peckham)
All i know of his parents are that they may have been called Duppa and Elizabeth and that they may have been originally from Wales.
Thanks
Neil.

Hello, Neil,
George's birth & bapt is shown in the IGI with parents Duppa & Elizabeth but this is a submitted entry therefore cannot be verified. He had a brother
Richard Duppa Jenkins, born 20th May 1815, bapt 10th Sept. 1815 St George the Martyr Southwark
However, with the unusual name of Duppa I found this.
1841 census
H0/107 427 book 13 folio 16 Page 5
White Horse Lane Dorstone Herefordshire
Duppa Jenkins age 74 Lighterman not born in county
and this
Death
Duppa Jenkins
June ¼ 1859 Westminster 1a 168
It would be interesting to see who registered the death.
Info for Richard Duppa Jenkins
1851 census
HO107/1579 folio 109 page 1
4, Marks Place Putney Surrey
John Puzey head age 59 Carpenter
Elizabeth wife age 60
Richard Duppa Jenkins Wid age 35 Visitor Carpenter b Vauxhall
Richard Duppa Jenkins sonn age 4 b Camberwell
Birth
Richard Duppa Jenkins
Mar ¼ 1847 Camberwell 4 53.
No marriage entry found for a Ricahrd Duppa, several possibles for a Richard Jenkins..
Hope this helps,
Meliora

Hi and thanks Meliora.
I'm fairly sure that George's father was called Duppa as that unusual name was also present on an old family tree.
I will definitely obtain Duppas death cert as that may yield vital information and il keep you informed.
Many thanks
Neil.

Hi cant remember where Meliora comes into things ....Jenny Robinson is my mothers 2nd cousin and she has been helpfull with my research, My ancestry on my mothers side is very interwined with both the Middletons and the Reeves familys originally from Gayton in Northamptonshire and they has been a fair amount of inter marriage between the two familys on the 1841 census both my gggg grandfathers are on the same census living in the same road that is my greatgrand mothers grand father and my great grandfathers grandfather ..sorry it gets more complicated! my greatgrandparents were 1st cousins George reeve Middleton born 1871 Gayton and lizzle Reeve Jenkins born 1871 Camberwell. Georges mother and lizzles mother were sisters( Mary anne middleton nee Reeve and Martha Jenkins nee Reeve) both daughters of Richard and Anne Reeve ...Richard Reeves brother Williams daughter Maria Middleton nee Reeve had a son(joseph) who married one of the sisters (mary anne) therefore as a couple Josephs grandfather was the brother of his wifes father! imagine what that family tree looks like! Thankyou very much for your input i will look into the Dannetts and the Whitneys if you would like to know more about the Reeves please just say...Neil

Thanks again for many happy hours of exploration..Neil

george jenkins (b1810) is my great great grandfather. My research agrees with the information supplied by Morden. However while I suspected that Richard Jenkins and Elizabeth Duppa were the parents of John Jenkins I have no evidence to support this. The only place I have found reference to the marriage of Richard Jenkins and Elizabeth Duppa is in the 'Duppa & Hancorn families of Herefordshire' tree (google). I would be interested to hear from anybody who knows about Richard Jenkins and or his son John Jenkins(dates, profession residence etc) Also happy to share information from my family tree.
