Hello,
Can anyone tell me the Catholic Church that Capparanny would come under?
I think its The Holy Family Church, but i'm not sure.
Many thanks

From the townland database (www.thecore.com/seanruad) it seems Capparanny is in the Civil and Catholic Parish of Turlough
see the Parish details on the Irish Times website at : http://www.rootschat.com/links/06sp/
if you click the 'Click here for a listing of placenames within this parish. ' link - the list includes the townland of Capparanny.
and a map of the parishes : http://www.rootschat.com/links/06sq/

Thank you! Sorry I didn't make myself clear...
I want someone to confirm the name of the church so I can then try to find out the address so i can write to the Parish Priest.

I thought the name of the parish might assist with finding the correct church.

Sorry i wasn't being funny.
I'm just not sure if its called The Church of the Holy family or the Holy Family church - if there is any difference.
The parish is Turlough/Parke RC and I have seen the church down as just the RC Chapel Parke on some message boards so i am a bit confused.

it might be worth just addressing a letter to something like The Parish Priest, Turlough Parish...
everybody in the area (including the postman I hope) will probably know the right person to deliver it to.

Hi,
I have just found this...

Parochial House,
Parke,
Castlebar,
Co. Mayo.

It appears Rev. Karl Burns is in Galway not Mayo....not sure if this info is old!

Claire,
Just came across your request for help.
I hope I can be of some help.
Firstly Im originally from Capparanny. '
The townland address comes under the parish of keeloges. It is where the families used to go to mass and school
(Both the old church and the old school were origonally built on the grounds of the existing church but is now the carparking area. Yes the people used to go to mass there but more often or not, the people were buried in the Turlough graveyard. "Round tower graveyard".
Its quite possible that your ancesters may be buried there but that no head stone exists.
However I think that the person who used to look after the registering the grave plots for that graveyard was a Mr William murphy from parke ( 75% Sure). I hope the info is of some help.

Yes, you will need to contact Willie Murphy of Derryhick for records of the Turlough Graveyard.

Thank you all!
Thomas...do you know of the Hoban family from there? I was in Capparanny in May and I was told they haven't been there for years but that they did know of them...so i was wondering if you do?
