looking for a james bray  dob 1900    ? leicester  in the   late 40/50 s lived in york would appreciate any help  on this  thank you

What the origin of this info?
I cannot see a freebmd entry to match Leics at that time, nor anything in the 1901 index, nor any child other than 1904 in the 1911 index.

hello pauline  my friend has spoken to his older brother who says on his birth certificat his fathers name was james king bray would this make a differance he must have dropped the king later on for his sons surname
 the son was born in york  anthony bray 1943

I think you will have to get the marriage certificate of the parents of the 1943 birth.
There's no James K (or King) Bray births in freebmd and nothing in census.

The birth was Sept qtr 1943 & MMN was Robinson .

Give the Mother's full names from the birth cert and we'll try to locate it in the index (or do you already hold it?
