Does anyone know how i can look into the family links of Barti Ddu - the Welsh pirate.
My husbands family were always told that they may be related to him. :o
He was called Bartholomew Roberts born 1682 as John Roberts in Little Newcastle in Pembrokeshire.
Any ideas welcome. :)

Hello Etna, and welcome to Rootschat
You can get quite a few "hits" on the Google search.
It seems a book has recently been published all about the Welsh Pirate - might be worth getting your hands on a copy. Here's a link -

He sounds a really interesting man.

Hi, don't know how old your post is but my family also has the belief that we are related to Bartholomew - have managed to get back to Horatio Roberts (b 1838) - his father is William (working on that).
You may even be a relation of me - ha ha ha
would love to hear from you ((*))
regards
