Lister is the last thread to my Australian tree that I haven't managed to complete as yet. Please can anyone help?
Lister was born in Armadale, Victoria in 1900. He was the only son of my great grandfather John Bradshaw and his second wife Alice Aitken. I believe he died in Sydney in 1968. I gather his first wife was Ethel Marshall and I think they married in 1924.
Does anyone know where she was born and when? Did she die, or were they divorced?
I also think they had a son, David, who died around 1935.
Does anyone know when he was born and were there any other chidren?
His second wife was Doris Mcevoy who I think he married in 1932 in Sydney.
Does anyone know where she was born and when? also when she died and did she and Lister have any children?
Any help will be very gratefully received. I live in England and if I can return any help I will.

Thank you, that's a brilliant start and mainly confirms my suspicions. With regard to the last part I will contact a relation in the US who supplied me with a photo of my great grandfather with Lister.

Cando you certainly gave Cwelli a lot of information, very clear and concise :D
After reading it all and looking at the NAA I noticed that on the WW1 record he claims he lost his Discharge papers in 1920 in America. So that adds weight to the unfortunate story in the newspapers.

Another snippet ;)

Argus Saturday 29th January, 1927
Lister Bradshaw-, of High street St Kilda, was charged with having driven in a dangerous manner at Sorrento on January 18.
Constable Pirrie said : I saw Bradshaw rounding a bend in Back Beach road at a very fast pace, and on the wrong side of the road
Bradshaw was fined £10, with 10/ costs

Thank you again. This is a different picture to the Lister of 1918/9 that I have through my grandmother's letters written to my grandfather while he was in WW1 in Europe!
His cousins (his father's eldest son's children, by first marriage)lived in California so I wonder if the other misdemeanor has anything to do with one of them.

Many thanks. It certainly sounds like the right person and about correct for her age at death.
I can't believe how helpful you are all being.
To anyone following the Lister saga, my American 'cousins' remember that he was deported on a charge but don't remember any details. I think those that are still living were quite young at the time of the incident.

If you would like a photo of the burial sites, I'm happy to take them for you.

Hi Jamjar,
I just can't believe how fantastic every one is 'down under'! I have always found the 'rootschat' website a superb group of people but everyone's help on this has really blown me away. I can't thank you all enough and hope that I can repay the time from this end at some time.
Yes please any photos would be just great for when I come to do my Bradshaw chapter of the family tree. It does make the text come to life a bit more.
All the best
