I am struglling to make any headway on William Bridger b. bet. Oct-Dec 1887. I have managed to find that he is from Kemsing, Kent, England but that is about it.
Does he seem familiar to anybody?

Hi Ian
Have you got him in the census or is that something that we may be able to help you with or perhaps it is something else that you are looking for?

I have him in the England and Wales birth index 1887; Vol 2a, page 690 Tonbridge. I have found him in both the 1891 and 1901 census in Kemsing but that is about as far as it gets.

Hi Ian
I'm not sure if you're working backwards or forwards but the one in Kemsing (son of Robert) says born Kemsing - Kemsing would come under the Sevenoaks registration district back then so he wouldn't be the Tonbridge one but could be one of two in the birth index Sevenoaks district:
William Francis E BRIDGER who appears to have married Gladys (Mary SHORTER?) and lived in Lewisham area 1911 census.
William Robert BRIDGER
Which one is definitely yours ie. what do you know for sure about *your* William BRIDGER?
Casalguidi :)

From what I can work out he is the son of Robert Bridger b. abt 1841 and Mary Kemp b. abt. 1845. He appears to be the youngest of 7 children.

So am I right in thinking that you are trying to find out what happened to him after the 1901 census ???

Yes...sorry for not making that clear. I was trying to get as far as possible before being forced to spend money on certificates! I have been working my way through my dead ends now that I am on my summer break. I plan to go to the Maidstone record office at some point over the next few weeks as the immediate line (Bridger) I am interested in stem from Chiddingstone/Penshurst.
I must apologise to you if I have caused you any problems? This is the first chance I have had to pick up any research for a few months now and am a bit rusty!

Looks like I made an error then and it is neither of the individuals from Tonbridge?

as CasalG said - coupled with your info about parents, its the Sevenoaks lad, William Robert born Kemsing.
I just looked in WW1 records on Ancestry with no luck .....

You can view pre 1812 Penshurst parish registers online:

The website says it may also be able to help with later dates. :)

I must say I had little trouble going back in a straight line with my tree but it has started to get a bit tricky now that I am trying to flesh it out a bit through other branches.

I must apologise to you if I have caused you any problems?
It's no problem at all - we are all only too pleased to try and help ;)

I have 3 Richards in my tree thus far: c. 1790, c. 1833, 1858. I don't have a Jemima however.

Ian,
My husbands greatx3grandfather Aaron Harris married a lady called Jemima bridger in Yalding in 1818.
One of the wedding witnesses was Richard Bridger ?father or brother unfortunately the record I saw did not give aname for the father of either bride or groom.
i noted on family search a jemima bridger of Yalding born in 1818 to richard and Martha and am assuming he is a brother- He would have been born about 1790.

SAlly,
I have a Richard Bridger born abt. 1790 in Penshurst, Kent. He was the son of John Bridger and Mary Hook. This couple had 10 children as far as I can make out.
I have very little information on him other than he was baptised 15 August 1790 at St John the Baptist Church in Penshurst, Kent.
What other links have you found with the Bridger family?

Sorry nothing much -someone with a tree posted on Ancestry say Jemima has brothers James and Richard. and just put links in to placenames from Yalding to Hunton to lamberhurst but my Geography of the area is pretty limited.
