Title: Prytherch family - Anglesey
Post by: GillyJ on Tuesday 21 July 09 18:48 BST (UK)
My grandmother was Ellen Prytherch Hughes from Llanbedrgoch.  She married Hugh Parry from Pentraeth.I have been unable to link her to a Prytherch family but know it is a family name as it carried forward to my Dad - William Prytherch Parry and to his son and grandson.
Help !!HAs anyone found her in their tree??

Hi Gilly :)

Do you have dates, etc. for her. The more information that you can give, the more likely it is that someone may recognise names, etc.

Don't give the names of living people though.

I have traced the ancestors back to about 1800 but can not see any mention of Prytherch anywhere. Would there be birth records anywhere other than in parish records or is it another trip down to the office in LLangefni?? I will not name any living descendants.
The census records have been very useful up to now but I have drawn a blank  on this connection :-\

Gwynedd FHS might have some parish records:

Otherwise it will be a trip to the Records Office.  Have you looked at the Nat Library online archives:

Thanks - no haven't tried that - I need to try the library again really and look at the earlier census's.
~I've been to Llanbedrgoch churchyard and found loads of the family but the Prytherch side is very elusive and I would be interested to see if we have a connection with some other Prytherchs I know in the area.
Come the winter and I will have another go.
Many Thanks for your suggestions.

A lot of people with Ellen Hughes on World Connect Gilly. The area is right, but not sure it will help you.

The 1891 census for Llanfair Mathafarn Eithaf (Dist 5) has a
William Hughes aged 58, Calfanistic Methodist preacher. b. Llan ME
Magdalen Hughes, aged 57, B. Llanbedrgoch
Annie Hughes, aged 10, b. Llanbedrgoch
Ellen Prytherch Hughes, aged 9, b. Llan ME
Elizabeth M, Hughes, aged 7, b, Llan ME
Not my relatives, but came across them researching my Thomas/Hughes family, Aberffraw.
Have not looked but I have posted a number of headstones on ''Find-a-Grave'' for the Llanfair ME cemetery
