Does anyone know if there is a website for Johns hill cemetery Waterford?
Thanks
Richard

Richard
-

-

richard
-
Perhaps there's no headstone.
-
True.
Does anyoneknow where the records are for this cemmetry?
Richard
-
Waterford Genealogical Society, Jenkins Lane , Waterford City, has those records, and if you pay them they will do a search for you .
-
Richard, get in touch with Rev Trevor Lister at Christ Church Cathedral, Trinity Square, Waterford, who might be able to help.
-
Hi Richard, I put this message in PM by mistake, however, re Sterne - this was a Waterford family since the 1664 Peter Street upheavals. The Peter Street property owners included Archer, Grant, Sherlock, and Lumbard but these were displaced by Cromwell in 1664 and replaced with Thomas, Dunne, Crippes, Kelly, Davis and your possible ancestor Sterne. So there would be Sternes buried in John's Hill (C of I) cemetery. If you get in touch with Rev Trevor Lister at Christ Church Cathedral, he might be able to help. R

vasaborg, I wonder does your records include any Jones other than John Jones and Thomas Benjamin Jones?
Thanks
-
There are a lot of Jones buried there, are you looking for a certain person?.
-
Thanks for the reply.
Yes. Looking for William Jones died 1912 would have lived at 2 Beau St in 1912.
His wife Anne Jones died 1941, death cert shows her living in the Burchall Home
There are two graves there side by side with two of his sons John Jones and Thomas Benjamin Jones
-
Here is the inscription , In memory of William Jones who died 19th December 1912 aged 58 years. His wife Annie Jones who died March 23rd 1941 aged 88 years.
-
Thanks for that. I looked at all the graves there but did not find that.
Any idea of the approx location?
-
Sorry i dont know the location of the graves, if you contact Rev. Lister he might have a map of the graveyard.
-
OK.
thanks for your help. I will go and look through the graves again.
I was told they were buried there and now that I am 100% sure, I will have another look.
I wonder do you have a record for a Mary Anne Burke or Bourke (nee Jones) in Johns Hill. Died before 1948. Born 1880.
-
I could not find that person, a lot of the headstones have fallen face down, that might be one of them.
-
Thanks for looking
-
Is there any trace of a Martha Andrews, who died in March 1882 (there was another Marhta, who died in infancy in 1875 who might also be buried there)? Or of Jeremiah Andrews, who died earlier?
-
William Tynan - died Waterford 23 March 1887 - Dean Trevor Lester tells me that most likely place of burial Johns Hill Cemetery. William Tynan born Callan. Formerly soldier in East India Company's forces. Any info welcome
-
I could not find a Martha Andrews, or a Jeremiah Andrews, i also could not find a William Tynan, some headstones have fallen face down, so the people you are looking for might still be buried there.
-
Vasaborg
