I have this picture taken in Emily, Ontario and all it says on it is the LOWES boys. I am not sure which generation of boys it may be. If anyone could give me an idea when the photo might have been taken it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Hello tricia
Men are quite hard do date as clothing for men was slow to change,on saying that I would suggest a date of around WW1 or just before,to be safe 1910-15.

Oh now I am really confused. I was hoping to find the picture was from either the late 1860's to early 1870's or the early to late 1890's.
Can anyone say that it is not from one of these times???? I was looking at the shoes???

I agree - The shoes are much later than the time you hoped the photo was taken, certainly after the turn of the last century so 1900`s or thereabouts. It is a lovely clear photo.Viktoria.

I'd agree with Jim, about 1910 or so...

I would say just prior to WW1 as well. The high boots of the man sitting at left are the same as ones worn by one of my g-g-uncles in a photo dated 1914.
Definitely not 1870s or 1890s :)

The givaway here are the collars of the boys at the front, the one on the left being introduced around 1909 & on the right the chap has a soft collar with pin which I haven't seen prior to WW1 so may even be a bit later.By 1920 these boots were being replaced by shoes particularly amongst younger men, owing partly to the fact garters to hold up socks were now popular.I would say you are looking for 3 brothers born around 1885-95.
