Title: Hello
Post by: JEBelfield on Saturday 18 July 09 15:03 BST (UK)
I am Jo. I am researching a number of areas, including my mother in law's maternal family the Eitelbergs who apparently fled from Poland to England. Some of the family then moved to Australia but the eldest daughters had already married and stayed in the UK - my MIL is a descendent of this branch.

I am having trouble tracing any further back that Louis Henry Eitelberg born in Camden in 1861 according to the census's though i have never found any birth records. I suspect he was actually born overseas and emigrated here which fits in wityh family lore but am having trouble finding the info atm - especially with Jewish name changes and things - though Jewishgen is very helpful.

Hi Jo

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

When Louis Henry married Harriet, what was the name and occupation of his father?

Cheers

Hi Jo

Welcome to Rootschat, I'm sure you will find lots of people who can help on here.

There are two public trees on An***try with Louis Henry Eitelberg on them. They give his dob as 1861 London and death as 1933 Melbourne Australia. They also give his father as Joseph Eitelberg born in Courland Russia in 1834. If neither of these trees are yours, it might be worth contacting the owners to see if they can help.

I am aware of those trees :) They are done by another member of the family - the logic of it seems a bit of a jump to me - unless he has come up with concrete information recently I am still looking at other options :) Sorry for the confusion :) Whilst it *could* be right - I think there are other possibilities :)

Ambly - I have no idea - I haven't got a copy of that certificate - and now I am wondering why the heck not! That would have the information on it. The other family member who has been researching has sent me copies of lots of certificates but not for that one. I will have to order it. Gosh this is a case of really not seeing the wood for the trees!
