burial bedwellty  thorley
 hi,
i am hoping someone can look up the death records at bedwellty to see when john thorley born 1826 in landilo ed died and was buried. on the 1891 census he is at 10 bedwellty road and his name is tharley( misprint i hope) i have checked each census and the trail leads to this result. his wife was mary thorley who died in 1890, so they could be in same plot.i live in bristol so can travel to view.
    many thanks from jaycem

Hi Jaycem, you may have already checked this one but thought I would point it out in case.

FreeBMD death.
John Thorley, Dec quarter 1907, Bedwelty, age 72.  Vol 11a Pg 90.  The age is about 10 years out but it may be an error, worth bearing in mind.  It's the only John Thorley death that comes up in Monmouthshire after 1891.

Hi Jaycem,  I've had a look on Genuki and Gwent Records Office seems the most likely.  Here's the Genuki Bedwellty page, there's a link to Gwent R.O. It's probably best to give them a call to check which records they hold.  http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/MON/Bedwellty/index.html

Gook luck

hi Jaycem,

The info I have with regards to the monumental inscriptions at Bedwellty are as follows :-

In memory of Mary daughter of John and Mary Thorley of Tredegar who died August 29 1870 1 month.  Also William Thomas their son who died August 22 1881 aged 19 years.  Also the above Mary Thorley who died April21 1890 aged 55 years. Also the above John Thorley who died  Dec 14 1907 aged 82 years.

I hope this is of some help to you.

Caroline :)

Jaycem

I have a vast amount of information on all surnames connected with Price, including Riley, Thorley, Boulton and Bevan.  Mary's mother was Gwenllian Evans who died in the September of 1887 in Cwmsyfiog and was buried in Bedwellty on 08 September 1887.  I have the birth certificates for two of Mary and Ann's younger siblings - Richard and Elizabeth.

My line is Mary's sister Ann who married George Bolton/Boulton.

I look forward to your reply and to a way to exchange information.

As you are Bargoed born and bred, my grandfather owned one of the two butcher's shops in Glan-y-Nant until he died in 1963 when my uncle continued the family business.

I have a lot of information on the Thorley surname and some dates of birth for the Riley connection as I have visited the Hereford Records office.

How can we exchange information and certificates?  I can give you a mobile phone number that you can ring and I'll ring you back.

I look forward to your reply and a way forward to exchange our information.
