Greetings from Texas, Any advice or help is most welcome and appreciated.Joe Walker
I have had partial information about my great great grand parents on my Grandmother's side for some time now but never could get over the hurdle to find out anything about them.
This is what I know:-
PATRICK Nolan b Waterford circa 1824 married an Anastatia.......................... b Wexford circa 1824
They had the following Children:-
MaryAnn Nolan b 1852 Wexford
James Nolan b 1856 Waterford
William Nolan b1858 Wexford
Patrick Nolan b1867 Liverpool
Margaret Nolan b1870 Liverpool
Funny enough there is a family story ( which so far does not hold water) Patrick b 1824 was supposed to have run away with the daughter of a well to do family
Tips, Facts and advice received humbly and with thanks.
Kind Regards ,Joseph Walker in San Antonio Texas

Civil registration of births in Ireland started in 1864 as did registration of Catholic marriages so you would need to search for church reords (if they exist) for earlier dates.
However, to find Anastasia's maiden name you could get the birth certificate for one of the children born in Liverpool.

Thank you aghadowey, Thay's a great idea but
not as easy as it seems as there were so many Nolans in Liverpool !! I will try of course!
i have been going over some old notes to-day and I noticed that ina previous attempt to get the maiden name, about two years ago It had been suggested that she was Anastatia Kavanagh.
Funny enough this brought on a barage of E mails wanting to know about my Kavanagh ancestors. i had no information to offer. Kind Regards, Joe
Would you be so kind a sto let me know what are the years of Irish Censuses which are generally available- Thanks Joe

1901 and 1911 are the only two surviving complete census returns.
These are in the process of being digitized and placed online by the National Archives : http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/
1911 Data for nine counties is currently available.

I know I have been along time away, which included a a quad Heart bypass and a stroke!!
Thank God for His Mercy!.
Notes: Margaret Nolan was not born in 1870 but in 1860 and in Waterford, she married in Liverpool and I am pleased to tell you that I found the Parish Birth Records in Liverpool, of Patrick Nolan, who later died as a child
So Ana .................... wife of Patrick Nolanhad a maiden name of ANASTASIA FARDY . By the way when my Irish family came to Liverpool in the first CENSUS they called themselves NOWLAN??
I am still looking with great hope that some one might give me a hint!!! You never know where it might lead.
Love the Irish- Just got to!! I am 80% Joe Walker, San Antonio, Texas

Not necessarily. The original 1841 - 1901 UK census returns were destroyed. What we view today is the transcriptions by the enumerators into their summary books so the enumerator may have transcribed the surname incorrectly. Only the 1911 UK census has the original household returns.
UK census 1861 – Liverpool (St Martin)
Patrick Nowlan, 37 - born Ireland
Anastasia Nowlan, 37 - born Ireland
Mary, 9 - born Ireland
James, 5 - born Ireland
William, 3 - born Ireland

UK census 1871 – Liverpool (St Martin, 107 Athol Road)
Patrick Nolan, 47 - born Waterford, Ireland
Anastasia Nolan, 47 - born Wexford, “ditto”
Mary, 19 - born Waterford, Ireland
James, 5 - born “ditto”
William, 13 - born “ditto”
Patrick, 4 - born Liverpool
Margaret, 11 - born “ditto”
UK census 1881 – Liverpool (St Martin, 107 Athol Road)
Anastasia Nolan (Widow) 53 - born Ireland
William, 23 - born Ireland
UK census 1891 – Liverpool (Bootle)
Anastasia Nolan (Widow), 70 born Ireland
UK census 1901 – Liverpool (Bootle)

Plus Jame’s wife & family
n.b. I had also added information transcribed from the 1911 UK census but it has been removed by the Copyright editor. I have no idea why as the transcription was taken from the ancestry.co.uk website where the 1911 census is now available alongside the 1841 – 1901 census returns.
I pointed this out to the copyright editor but no reply was forthcoming
