Welcome to RootsChat. :)
According to the 1901 census she was 5, so possibly born in 1896. Did she lie about her age when she got married and never admitted it?
There is a registration of a Hilda Baldwin in Grantham RD Mar 1897 7a 508. It's the only one close to the sound of Baldry.

Have you found the family on 1911 Census. In the index there is a Hilda May BALDRY aged 15 in Grantham, I don't think she is with the family though who are also in Grantham.
If it is her the middle name might be helpful but cannot find her on birth index.
Regards
Robert

If this is your Hilda she was a domestic servant living with a family Adcock. She was born Grantham and her relationship to this family was servant.
Like Robert I cannot see her either on the birth index. :-\

Hi
Have you been able to find any birth registrations for her siblings? The only one I could seem to find was for Frederick :-\

Lincolnshire archives wouldn't hold anything relating to the birth certificate.
You really need the Lincolnshire Registration Service as they hold all the original registers for the county and provide a scanned copy of the original document in the form of a certificate for the usual £7 fee. They can accept a search request either by post, telephone or online via the Lincs council website ("do it online" section).
Bear in mind that if the census gives Grantham as pob it may be that the birth was in a village nearby and Grantham was the nearest town. Three counties (Lincs, Leics and Notts) share a boundary close to Grantham so you might have to look at the adjoining counties in addition to Lincolnshire.

Hi haleyc and welcome to Rootschat :)
Like Evie I couldn't see registrations for Hilda, Rose or Edith BALDRY in Grantham, but there is this possible one for Rose:
Mar Qtr 1892 Grantham Vol 7a Page 458 Rose Baldwin TILSON.
There is also the marriage of Millicent Ann TILLSON to Frederick BALDRY:
Dec Qtr 1892 Grantham Vol 7a Page 963; ie after the birth of Rose but before the births of Hilda, Edith and Frederick.
I'm wondering whether Baldwin & Baldry were muddled up or misheard at times....
Kind regards
Gaie

Hi haleyc,

St Wulframs Church Reel 888 Section 1/34 Page 173.
November 23rd 1892.
Frederick Baldry aged 22 batchelor Horse dealer. abode Grantham father Robert Baldry. Horse dealer.
Millicent Ann Tillson aged 21 Spinster. abode Grantham Father Thomas Tillson. Fitter.
Frederick signed.Millicent left mark.

Hi haleyc
On microfiche in Grantham library there is a Admission Register for Spittlegate School Grantham February 1899-January 1913 and I found the following Baldrey children including a Hilda.
Hilda started school 10-4-1899 and left 5-2-1900.She lived 34,Rycroft Street(but unusually it did not give her birth or Parent/Guardians name).
I dont know if the following are connected but here are the details just in case.
They lived 55 Norton Street.Fathers name Arthur.
Winifred started 17-4-1899 birth 9-10-1894 left 1-2-1901
Florence Mabel " 9-6-1902 birth 26-2-1898 left 1-2-1905
Doris " 11-4-1904 birth 2-2-1900
This one lived 73 Grantley Street
Cecil started 25-6-1906 born 14-4-1902 left 1-2-1909
On microfiche from October 1882-January 1899
Eliza started 7-7-1884 born 18-5-1880
In regards to Hilda now I have an address ie 34 Rycroft Street I will look in Kellys or Grantham Red book and see if I can find anymore info.

Hi haleyc
Many thanks for your lovely comments but I am only a trainee compared to a lot of other rootchatters.
Just in case you have not had chance to look at Berlin Bobs info on this Beginners board 2nd line down titled Getting Started/Beginners Link you will find a lot of good advice on researching your families history and also if you put any of your queries in regards to Grantham and surrounding areas on the Lincolnshire board you will find some very helpfull people on there more qualified and quicker than me who have helped me solve some very difficult problems. Having said that I will keep looking for the Baldry family baptisms because as you know I live in Grantham and can look in the parish records etc.
Kathy
Ps.Have sent you a pm.

The only Baldrys I could find today in Kellys directories were in 1892.
Robert Baldry (Fredericks father) lived 3,Watergate and was a Horse Dealer
and in 1896/1900 he lived 3,Chapel Street still a Horse Dealer.

Bear in mind that for Lincolnshire events it's worth getting the certs from Lincolnshire Registration Services (based in Lincoln).
They hold the original registers for the county and supply scanned copies of the register (so all signatures etc are original), charges are the usual £7 and turnround is usually 3 days, sometimes quicker.
Orders can be placed by phone or online via the council website (use the "do it online" option). Alternatively postal applications can be made to the adress given below.
For birth and death certs supply;
Name
Year of event (date if known)
Place (or district)
Additional info can also be supplied if known to narrow the search.
For marriage certs you must also add the name of the marriage venue (eg church or chapel name).

Hi Haleyc
Just done a search for Hilda MM Baldry(nee Tillson) and found your post so felt I had to join rootschat as she is also my great grandmother! I have been doing research on/off for about 7 years and I have also drawn a blank regarding birth cert.
However I have traced Baldrys and Tillsons and others in the line back to @1800 using a thorough approach and have many certificates and census & baptisms/marriages etc. As you are Hilda's great Grandaughter(?) I guess we must be 3rd cousins(?).
I would be interested in sharing any relevant information I have with you.
Regards Steve
